In the last arc of Dragon Ball Z, we get to know Son Goten, the second son of Goku. While children resemble their parents, Goten looks like a clone of his father. Why is that?
Son Goten was introduced in the Buu arc and is Goku’s second son after Son Gohan. Gohan himself resembles Goku, but his hairstyle gives him a unique characteristic. In contrast, Goten has exactly the same hairstyle as Goku, and one might easily confuse him with young Goku.
His appearance is related to Goku’s death against Cell. Son Goten was born when Goku was still in the afterlife. According to 3DJuegos, Gohan was originally supposed to be the protagonist of the next arc. Goten was intended to be a reminder of Goku for the fans. That’s why he wears the famous clothes and has the same hairstyle as his father.
If we look at Gohan later in Dragon Ball Super, we see that the first son stands out even more from his father due to his glasses and jogging suit. Gohan’s new form also differs from the classic Saiyan. In contrast, Goten has hardly changed throughout the series.

In Son Goten’s case, his closeness to Goku is a plausible explanation for his appearance, but within the series and the many movies, there are even more Goku clones

Goku himself resembles his father Bardock incredibly closely. The hairstyle is the same, only a scar and a dark look differentiate the father from the son. Bardock could only be seen in TV specials and movies, but as a character, he is canon.
Turles, on the other hand, is a character that appeared only in the film Dragon Ball Z: The Decision Battle outside of games. The Saiyan is a space pirate who comes to Earth to grow his Fruit of Power. However, Turles looks exactly like Goku with a scouter, the only difference being his main color, which is slightly different from Goku’s. Why Turles looks this way is never explained.
Even in Dragon Ball Super, we expect a new Goku clone in the form of Goku Black. He looks like an angry Goku with a dark outfit. However, this design doesn’t seem as arbitrary as the others because Goku Black is explained within the story.
At least Son Goten has changed in the latest Dragon Ball movie. He and Trunks have finally grown in Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, and his hair has also changed. Despite fewer scenes, Goten can at least be seen in many movies and series.
