In Dota Underlords (Steam, iOS, Android), a first tier list has been created. Experts consider the strongest heroes in Valve’s auto battle and highlight which ones to avoid. However, the most important thing is to pay attention to the right combo, which must fit the current meta.
Where does this tier list come from? It is from Dotahaven. They evaluate the heroes mainly based on their usefulness for the best combos. In Dota Underlords, it’s about which alliance to play and which synergies are effective: One single hero can be very strong, but if he doesn’t fit the meta, that doesn’t help.
Because alliance bonuses are crucial for success, you need heroes that fit into your strategy.
What are the best combos in Dota Underlords? According to the current meta, Dotahaven considers three combos to be the best:
- Hunters – they focus entirely on damage
- Mages – they wait until their strong units have enough mana to blow everything away with one shot
- Warriors – they want to survive as long as possible and wear down the opponent bit by bit
Because alliances are so important, even “weak heroes” that only cost 1g and have weak stats can belong to the S-tier, meaning they are among the strongest heroes in Dota Underlords.
Dota Underlords Tier List – These are the strongest heroes
The 6 strongest heroes of the tier list according to S-Tier:
- Drow Ranger: Makes the alliance “Hunter” possible in Dota Underlords with her damage aura that provides a significant DPS buff. She also brings Heartless. She may seem weak, but has a large influence on a battle.
- Crystal Maiden – She is indispensable for mage strategies. After all, she boosts mana regeneration for all. This allows CC abilities to be used faster and damage output increases. She is also part of the Clone Warriors attack build.
- Medusa – She is strong on her own due to her CC ability. And Medusa can shoot at multiple targets. Moreover, she is part of the Hunters combo. The alliance “Scaled” makes her additionally important for countering mages. Because having two Scaled units grants more magic resistance.
- Keeper of the Light – Important for the mage combo. He should be placed in the back corner and one should pray that he survives until he charges up his utterly exaggerated skill and sends out the horses. He currently makes mages strong in the meta.
- Kunkka – The best warrior due to his AOE stun with the Ghost Ship. A renewal orb is well placed on him, then two stuns are released. He should be placed in the front line.

- Tidehunter – Has the best crowd control in the game and becomes very tanky starting at 2 stars. He is also good with Hunters and against Mages.
These are the weakest heroes of the tier list
These are the 9 weakest heroes in C-Tier of Dota Underlords:
- Batrider – Fits into no strong alliance.
- Axe – Is quite decent at the beginning among Warriors, but should quickly be replaced by a better hero like Kunkka or Doom.
- Warlock – Can be useful at the beginning with Ogre, but should only be kept if one is going for 4 or 6 Warlock combos in Dota Underlords, which are quite rare.
- Shadow Shaman – is a troll and trolls are not very strong overall. Normally, neither Trolls nor Shamans are really played, so a Troll Shaman stands no chance.
- Juggernaut – Besides Axe, the second warrior hero that is currently struggling. Is really only worth it if one goes full on Stalwart and uses global items that permanently give health points for kills. Otherwise, there are better warriors.
- Puck – Dragons are currently too weak in Dota Underlords. They overall have little presence.
- Viper – Is also a dragon and does not fare well. Additionally, there is strong competition among Assassins.
- Omni Knight – is a great knight, but hardly anyone plays knights.
- Dragon Knight – has both problems. Is a dragon and a knight, both alliances are not very good.
You can see the issues with the weakest classes are similar: They belong to alliances that currently play no role in the meta.
What about the rest? The remaining heroes lie in the middle between the strongest and weakest and can be used depending on the strategy.
They will be played to create synergy effects, but that actually results from the choice for the alliance.
Will the tier list stay the same? The tier list will constantly change. Already on June 26, a balance patch for Dota Underlords is announced, which could change the meta again.
Here, the weak dragons will be strengthened – each dragon will receive an individual ability when multiple dragons are present. This could elevate the 3 dragons from C-tier.
