In the upcoming shooter Doom , gameplay material has been released, providing insights into the single-player campaign.
During a Twitch stream, Creative Director Hugo Martin and Executive Producer Marty Stratton showcased gameplay footage from the single-player campaign of Doom for a good hour. A recording of this can now be viewed on YouTube, which you can watch below:
In addition to numerous gameplay scenes from the campaign, you will see monsters, demons, and various weapons in action. Of course, bloody chainsaw kills cannot be missed. In the background, the developers discuss the showcased material and explain the design decisions that were made.
Here are some details the developers revealed:
- There is no reload function. As in the first Doom, weapons can hold an irrational amount of ammunition. You can keep shooting until you run out of ammo.
- There will be a weapon wheel in the single-player campaign, which allows you to switch between your guns at any time. When you activate the weapon wheel, the environment slows down. However, you shouldn’t take too much time with your choice, as the action is not completely paused. By the way, there is no weapon wheel in multiplayer; you have to pre-select specific weapons.
- Each weapon has various mods that you can toggle on and off with the press of a button.

- Additionally, we get a look at the brutal “finishing moves”, which grant you invulnerability during the animation. As a reward, you gain health and ammunition.
- The campaign will feature various optional challenges, such as having to eliminate one enemy with an exploding foe.
- Furthermore, there will be a lot of lore that you can experience through audio files.
Doom will be released on May 13 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
