“Don’t hate me” – Gronkh reveals what preferential treatment he receives as a Twitch streamer from Telekom

The Twitch streamer Erik “Gronkh” Range usually does not exploit his popularity for personal gain. But when he had serious internet issues, he played the “Gronkh card,” as he puts it, and has since enjoyed preferential treatment from Telekom.

What does this preferential treatment entail? Gronkh mentioned in a Twitch stream, a clip of which was uploaded to YouTube, that he has a direct line to Telekom. This means his concerns are addressed faster than others and he does not have to deal with the waiting queue.

“I hate playing the ‘Gronkh card'”

How did this come about? In a reaction video to Varion’s video “When you have to call your internet provider”, Gronkh recalled a time when he had internet issues for weeks.

Eventually, it became too much for him, and he wrote a “rant”, a kind of outburst, directed towards Telekom on X, formerly Twitter. He let his frustration flow and threatened with loss of income, as he relies on a stable internet connection professionally as a content creator.

The consequence: a very quick support response with a solution to his problems and additionally a “better line” with Telekom.

Gronkh is not really proud of his action but felt compelled to take this measure. He says: “I hate playing the ‘Gronkh card.'”

He then added: “Please don’t hate me, but I’ve already lost a lot of hair.”

What else did Gronkh say? Playfully, the Twitch streamer said to his community: “You complain when episodes are missed or streams! (…) I’m only doing this for you!”
