The beautiful anime MMORPG Blue Protocol is seen by many MMO fans as a major hopeful in the genre. However, until now, only the release in Japan has been confirmed. But a job listing from the developer reveals when the game is set to launch and that they also plan to release it outside of Japan.
What is Blue Protocol? Blue Protocol will be a theme park MMORPG focusing on PvE and an exciting, fully voiced story. It also bears a strong resemblance to the anime hit Genshin Impact in style and is likely to appeal to its fans. The game is being developed for PC and not for mobile, and it is from the Japanese developer Bandai Namco.
When will the game be released? Initial test phases in Japan have already concluded, and the release is set to happen soon. According to a job listing for the game, the launch is expected to start in the “next fiscal year.” In the case of Japan, that would be as early as April 1, 2021.
Is it coming to us as well? The release in the West is now likely secure. This is because the job listing mentions a so-called “localization manager.” This employee is responsible for bringing and translating the game into other countries. Furthermore, it states that the game will initially be released in Japan and then gradually worldwide.
If Blue Protocol is released in Japan in mid-2021, a Western release in fall or winter 2021 could be a realistic option. However, we will know more only when Bandai Namco releases official information.
A playable anime – The features of Blue Protocol
What is special about Blue Protocol? Fans of Genshin Impact should immediately notice the similar graphic style of Blue Protocol. Both games feature a dreamy anime look in cel-shading style. Additionally, there are lovingly designed characters who will all play a role in the story.
Other features of Blue Protocol include:
- Focus on story. The game is designed to feel like an interactive anime.
- Time travel: Your hero travels 1,000 years into the past to change the future.
- PvE and exploration are at the forefront; PvP will be added later and is limited to certain instances.
- Quests and teamwork are important; the game is not a sandbox.
As it will still take at least six months until Blue Protocol appears, we have a list for you of promising anime MMORPGs in 2020. There you will surely find a game that suits your taste and promises the full anime experience.
