In The Division 2, the next free content expansion will launch on October 15. “Episode 2” brings new missions and the Pentagon into play. However, agents will have to wait for the announced raid.
What’s coming next week in The Division 2? Already about two weeks ago, the release of Title Update 6 and the content expansion “Episode 2” for The Division 2 was announced for mid-October. Now a specific date has been revealed – October 15.
Much is already known about TU6, but the developers have so far held back information about the free content DLC “Episode 2”.
Apart from the upgrade of some missions to potential invasion missions and the “Mannig National Zoo” as the headquarters of an invasion (Stronghold), the people at Massive have said nothing about the new missions that are supposed to come with “Episode 2”.
Episode 2 brings a new raid – But when?
However, it has been clear for a while – “Episode 2” comes with a new raid. Raids are usually the largest PvE activities within an MMO and offer the highest difficulty level and often the best loot in the entire game.
The raid is now being postponed? In a post from the Ubisoft launcher “Uplay”, Ubisoft’s counterpart to platforms like “Steam” or the “Epic Games Store”, where the release date was also mentioned, there were also details about the upcoming raid.
It states that the raid is being postponed and will not come with Title Update 6 and “Episode 2” on October 15. However, it does not say when.
Developers want to deliver quality
As part of Ubisoft’s responsibility for general fixes and improvements to the game, the second raid of The Division 2 is being postponed. The additional time allows developers to focus on the overall quality of The Division 2 while developing a raid that meets player standards.

What do the developers say about it? The developers mention that all the changes and improvements to the game have resulted in the second raid needing a bit longer. They want to use the gained time to focus on the overall quality of the game until release and then deliver a good raid that meets the players’ expectations.
Why do raids sometimes come later? The first raid “Dark Hours” came later than expected. Such a raid is not infrequently part of a larger expansion that brings new gameplay or mechanics into the game. This gives players the opportunity to internalize these innovations.
Raids need their time
But from the developer’s side, it also makes sense to release such a large activity a bit later:
- Update brings new max level
- Players are still too weak for the raid and should not get frustrated after the first attempts with minimum level.
- Developers want all new content to be played
- For some players, service games become pure raid providers. So before everyone rushes to the raid and then disappears, the new content should also be played extensively.
- High time pressure
- If, alongside the raid, many other new contents or balancing come into the game, the targeted release dates can get tight.
- Bugs
- Raid bosses often bring new game mechanics that were not initially considered during development. Complex mechanics can easily hinder straightforward implementation, and the release may need to be postponed due to errors in gameplay.
- Different difficulty levels
- There is also the case where multiple difficulty levels are released. Often, there is an easier version first. In the meantime, developers can continue to work on the difficult version and offer players a more balanced difficulty level.
What else do the expansions bring? The raid is eagerly awaited, and new missions are also on the agents’ wish list. Title Update 6, however, also brings many new features and adjustments to game mechanics to improve the gaming experience.
