Discord has postponed its age verification. However, a user is still required to verify their age. On some accounts, you can now display your age.
Why is Discord under criticism? Discord wanted to introduce an age verification starting March 2026: If users want to see certain content, they must first verify their age with an ID or a 3D scan.

What problem does the user have? The user reports in a post on Reddit that he has canceled his Nitro subscription due to the situation surrounding Discord. However, since the cancellation of the subscription, he can no longer access his account – unless he verifies with an ID. Exactly with the procedure that Discord is supposed to have officially postponed.
The person explains themselves that they live in the USA and here stricter youth protection laws for social media do not yet apply as they do in Australia, where such a verification has become mandatory.
The user explained that furthermore, he is no longer able to delete his Discord account. With a self-programmed app, he should have finally bypassed the problem and deleted his account (via Reddit.com). In a newer post on Reddit, he explained that he is still banned and cannot access Discord links unless he verifies his age.
Is there any way to find out your age? Through user settings > MyAccount, some users may see the successful age verification (Age Rating). However, in a sample, we could not find this setting on several German accounts.
Some speculate that these settings might only be available for accounts in the UK and Australia. In Germany, this function might therefore be hidden.
