Diablo IV will take a big step forward with the expansion Vessel of Hatred, and all players should be able to enjoy it. MeinMMO reveals to you what it’s all about.
With the expansion Vessel of Hatred, Blizzard promises that this first premium expansion will be released in 2024, featuring a new region and a class that has never existed in Diablo before.
According to Associate Game Director Brent Gibson (via GamesRadar), the story is supposed to connect directly to the main campaign of Diablo 4. The Age of Hatred is breaking over Sanctuary, and mortals must confront the power of Mephisto.
What kind of region will come? The gates between Nahantu and Sanctuary have been closed for ages. Nahantu was spared from Lilith’s wrath during the main campaign. In the expansion, you can track Neyrelle, who is looking for a way to defeat the Soulstone
and the Prime Evil
trapped within it.
Answers to the Kurast Docks
To do this, she ventures into the heart of the Torajan Jungle. She will make her way to the temple city of Travincal, which was once the headquarters of the Zakarum church in Kurast and the place where Mephisto was captured. Vessel of Hatred is supposed to provide answers to questions – especially how the famous Kurast Docks have evolved since Diablo 2.
The expansion is expected to bring not only an engaging story but also a sixth class. Gibson says:
Through the continuation of our story, the new region, a new class, and all these new gameplay opportunities, we can really achieve something great. We’re having a lot of fun experimenting with the seasons and learning a lot by listening to our players, and we will be able to use all this feedback to take another big step forward.

Nostalgia and New Elements
Despite the nostalgic background, Gibson emphasizes that the expansion of Diablo 4 is the continuation that players have been waiting for. He assures that players will definitely learn the fate of the stone. It will continue right from the point where you left off, and the story explored in the main campaign will be continued.
A special focus is on the integration of Vessel of Hatred
. The expansion is supposed to be seamlessly integrated, allowing all players, regardless of their play style, to enjoy it. Returnees can dive right into the new story, while newcomers have the opportunity to skip the original campaign.

What class can we expect? Favorite classes like the Paladin or Witch Doctor will not return with the new addon, as Brent Gibson explains:
To be honest, we were at a crossroads. When we reached the point where we talked about the expansion, we had to decide whether we wanted to do another classic or something new. We felt that we had the responsibility to give Sanctuary new gameplay opportunities.

Brent Gibson emphasizes that he is eager to reveal more about the new class, but Blizzard wants to save some surprises for 2024. The new class is likely to be the Spiritborn, as leakers have discovered. The Spiritborn is supposed to be nature-connected, which would match the upcoming jungle setting, and he is supposed to wield a glaive. However, this information has not been confirmed yet.
At launch, Brent Gibson promises that the expansion will contain content for seasonal players and will generally have something for every type of player. This is really important to them. There are so many play styles out there right now, and we don’t want to exclude any groups along the way.
Many details are still being kept under wraps by Blizzard, but overall Vessel of Hatred
seems to promise exploring the dark side of Sanctuary further while bringing fresh air to Diablo. The expansion is set to be released at the end of 2024.
