Pay2Win is still a big topic in Diablo Immortal. Apparently, it is not enough to just pump money into the game, as one player has had to find out. He says that despite massive investment, he simply cannot win often enough.
This is the story:
- Diablo Immortal is considered by the community to be a complete Pay2Win game. On MeinMMO, we already discussed the Pay2Win factor of Diablo Immortal in our podcast.
- However, one player complains that he does not win often enough in PvP against other players, even though he has spent over €32,500.
- The community reacts with mockery, as he is supposedly playing one of the classes that everyone else finds strong.
A reason for the often mentioned Pay2Win is, by the way, the legendary gems. We explain what this is about in the video:
This is what the “whale” says: On the official Discord of Diablo Immortal, a user complains that he has no chance with his Barbarian in PvP. He immediately gets crowd control abilities (“CC”), is stunned and can only watch as he dies.
Whales are called players in mobile games who spend particularly large amounts of money. The player in question claims to have spent over $34,000 (around €32,500). This is enough for a resonance of over 5,000 – actually well beyond what players usually have in PvP.
The player asks that in the next update, crowd control abilities should be nerfed, as he only wins “60%” of his PvP matches. He assumed that with enough money he could simply win more.
He now even thinks that Diablo Immortal cannot be Pay2Win:
“I think Diablo Immortal is not a Pay2Win game. My Barbarian is just a joke. When you jump into the battlefield, all the CC with incredible range just pours onto me. I can only watch as my health points dwindle and activate my Immortal Rage.”
Now he is considering whether he should apply for a refund from Blizzard because of this – and is mocked by the community.
The community mocks: “You’re not paying enough”
On Discord, there are at least some serious responses that advise the whale to engage more with the game. Just paying is not enough, contrary to what the Diablo Immortal community claims. You also have to be able to play a little.
Others mock him that he is apparently not paying enough. Either he is playing against very strong players or against those who have simply invested even more. This is probably not uncommon in the legend rank in PvP. He will probably have to invest more, as a “Max character” costs even more:
The topic has also been discussed on reddit. Especially the player’s statement that Barbarians are just bad in PvP is being torn apart here. Melee fighters are lower on the tier list of Diablo Immortal, but are really strong in PvP.

Here, the players explain that they can even celebrate easy victories with the “bad” wizards and mock him that he should just support a better class with money. Demon Hunters, for example.

However, they all agree that Barbarians actually have no problems in PvP and come with comments like: “Tell me you’re bad without telling me you’re bad.” or:
Seriously, Barbarians are nearly unkillable in battlegrounds, just as they are right now. Pack the right gems with good resonance and they simply don’t die.
If it were April, I would think this is a joke.
I play a Barbarian. 1,800 combat rating, 400 resonance. Whirlwind, Leap, Stomp, Berserker.
There is also much laughter and talk about the Pay2Win tears. In any case, the player does not receive much sympathy.
