The current Season 2 of Diablo 4 allows you to completely redesign your characters and classes differently than in the Base Game or Season 1. A player has now developed a mana tank build for the wizard, with which she can even go 20 minutes AFK without being killed by the Butcher.
What kind of build is it? The build comes from a video by YouTuber Emilyheartz987. In her almost 22-minute long video, she shows how her character takes a lot of damage in the fight against the Butcher, one of the toughest opponents in the game, at level 100. Meanwhile, her health stays constantly full while her mana pool fills and empties repeatedly.
Emilyheartz987’s build is a mana tank wizard, seemingly based on the lightning orb build. You can read about how this works here:
How does the build work? The trick with this particular variation is that the damage from the opponent is deducted from the character’s mana pool, not from their health. Since the mana regeneration is faster than the damage input, the attacks do not touch the actual health pool.
This means that the character does not die even after 20 minutes of continuous fire from an opponent like the Butcher.
However, Emilyheartz987 also writes that while the build can withstand a lot, the damage output is currently just too low. Midway through the video – and the fight – she tweaks her build again without taking more or less damage. However, she does not deal noticeably more damage herself afterwards.
In the comments, user @Cesarmcruz-pr1hq writes that he intends to wait until December 5 and then look at a new update from Emilyheartz987 regarding the build. Then the Winter- will start, and also the Endgame event Zir’s Slaughterhouse
. As a reward for completing it successfully, players receive a Paragon Glyph that increases attack damage.
The hope is that this will allow the build to also deal enough damage. That would eliminate the last weak point.
How can you recreate the build? As a basis for this build, you need the lightning orb structure linked above. Pair this now with a lot of armor. It is also important to focus on damage reduction.
The most important item is the “Melted Heart of the Blessed”, a so-called Uber Unique
item that you can only obtain from Endgame Boss Duriel. The amulet gives you resistance against all types of damage, increases your stats, and allows you to deal damage harder.
However, the most crucial point about the amulet is that it increases your resource regeneration by 5% to 12%. This is what makes your wizard build, as described above, so immortal.
