On December 5, Blizzard released Patch 1.2.3 for Diablo 4. You can now face the new endgame content Zir’s slaughterhouse
and farm its rewards. Unfortunately, a new bug has also slipped in, making this noticeably more difficult for you.
What has happened recently in Diablo 4?
- Since mid-October, the second season: The Blood Season has been running in Diablo 4.
- On December 5, Blizzard released Patch 1.2.3 along with the new endgame content

. - On December 12, the winter event, the Midwinter Plague, starts.
Which area of Diablo 4 is affected by the bug? The bug released with the new patch affects your progress after level 50. Once you reach this level, you earn so-called Paragon points instead of experience, which you can use to unlock skills and glyphs in your Paragon board.
Glyphs have secondary effects that you can obtain by leveling them up with additional Paragon points. If you bring a glyph to at least level 15, its radius expands, and you can distribute your points more easily.

What exactly happens with the bug? The new bug deducts Paragon points already distributed on glyphs from you. This means that all glyphs that are at level 15 have been downgraded to level 14. Those who have brought their glyph to the maximum level of 21 will not feel the bug too strongly. However, those who are below that lose access to important abilities.
This is particularly annoying, as the new endgame Zir’s slaughterhouse is an extremely tough challenge that players have been preparing for a long time. According to Blizzard, the content at the highest difficulty level is nearly impossible to achieve.
The loot from Zir’s slaughterhouse includes, among other things, another glyph that you can use in your Paragon board. This enhances your character’s attack value and is therefore in high demand among players.

Is Blizzard already working on a fix? Blizzard already commented on reddit on December 5:
[…] We plan to fix this issue on PC with a new client update that is due to be released during the day. We will inform players about the timing of this release as soon as it is available. […]

About 9 hours ago, at the release of this news, Blizzard released a forum post. In it, they state that the problem has already been resolved for PC players via a hotfix. The console versions have also now been provided with the hotfix.
How do I bypass the bug if I still have it? We advise PC players to install the new hotfix. However, if this is currently not possible or if you are playing on a console, you must earn new Paragon points through gameplay.
You can then assign the new points to the glyphs affected by the bug and thus unlock your missing abilities again. This is of course tedious but currently the only known way to bypass the bug aside from the hotfix.
