The Echo of Duriel is one of the hardest bosses in Diablo 4. We will show you how to summon and defeat him, as well as what you should pay attention to.
How to summon Duriel: To summon the Echo of Duriel, you no longer need special mats since Season 8. You can simply enter his dungeon and summon him at the altar. Go to the dungeon “Gaping Chasm” at a torment level. You can find the dungeon southeast of Gea Kul. Once there, just interact with the summoning altar and the boss fight will begin.
After defeating Duriel, a chest spawns that you can open using the known mats to get his loot:

- You can obtain it from chests in the Whispering Tree, from Hell Floods, from Treasure Goblins, and from the boss “Grigoire” in the “Hall of Atonement” dungeon
- 2x Slime-Infused Egg
- You can obtain it from chests in the Whispering Tree, from Hell Floods, from Treasure Goblins, and from the boss “Varshan” in the “Beehive” dungeon
What level is Duriel? With Season 6, Blizzard abolished the often criticized world tiers and integrated a new difficulty system. The monster levels correspond to the level at which they are played, and are no longer displayed. Thus, Duriel’s level depends on your difficulty level, as well as the enemies that await you in the “Gaping Chasm”.
Diablo 4: Defeating Duriel – What You Need to Pay Attention To
What should I watch out for? First, you need a powerful build to have any chance against the poisonous boss. A list of the best builds in the endgame of Diablo 4 can be found in the Tier List for Season 8. The more damage you deal, the less time Duriel has to attack you.
Another point is your poison resistance. This should be at least over 70 % so that you can start the fight more comfortably. If your resistance is not that high, you can temporarily increase your resistance with a poison resistance potion. Duriel is a poisonous boss, and his attacks can quickly take a toll on you if you don’t have enough resistance.
Lastly, it is important to pay attention to his attacks and dodge at the right moment. He will charge at you, create holes, or rain debris down on you. So to avoid being killed by a few rocks, pay attention to the warnings and dodge at the right moment.
Duriel: Loot Drops
What loot does Duriel drop? Since Season 8, the stronghold bosses no longer only drop loot from their specific pool, but also other uniques that the respective class can use.
With Duriel, you have a chance for the following specific uniques:
- All classes: Godslayer Crown, Flickering Step, Tibault’s Will, Rusty Sigil Ring of X’Fal, Soulburn, Talisman of the Banished Prince, Blue Wrath
- Barbarians: Joritz the Mighty’s Hackerman Helmet
- Sorcerers: Flame Scar, Blue Rose
- Druids: Storm Roar, Dolmenstone
- Hunters: Cowl of the Nameless, Rogue’s Leather
- Necromancers: Black River, Blood Moon Pebbles
- Spiritborn: Sepazontec, Staff of Kepeleke
