Witches have become a bit weaker in Diablo 4 with Season 3. However, a fairly new build has appeared at the top of the tier list: the Meteor build. MyMMO shows how to play this build and which skills & legendaries you need.
What kind of build is this? The Meteor build belongs to the top 3 builds for Sorcerers in Season 3. With this build, you blanket the entire battlefield with meteors that break into small fireballs, stunning, shattering, and burning enemies.
The build is made possible by a new unique from Season 3 that frees the Meteor skill from its mana costs. This makes the build competitive and even one of the strongest at the moment.
The build first appeared on maxroll.gg, and we’ve expanded it with our own experiences and tips for playing.
Sorcerer Build with Meteor – Skills and Tips
These are the skills you need:
- Firebolt – 2/5
- Powerful Defense (passive) – 3/3
- Devastation (passive) – 1/3
- Elemental Mastery (passive) – 3/3
- Flame Shield – 1/5
- Improved Flame Shield
- Shimmering Flame Shield
- Teleport – 5/5
- Improved Teleport
- Shimmering Teleport
- Glass Cannon (passive) – 3/3
- Harmony of Elements (passive) – 3/3
- Ice Armor – 1/5
- Ice Blades – 1/5
- Improved Ice Blades
- Summoned Ice Blades
- Precision Magic (passive) – 3/3
- Alignment of Elements (passive) – 3/3
- Mana Shield (passive) – 3/3
- Protection (passive) – 3/3
- Meteor – 5/5
- Improved Meteor
- Sorcerer’s Meteor
- Inner Flames (passive) – 3/3
- Devouring Blaze (passive) – 3/3
- Deep Freeze – 1/1
- Supreme Deep Freeze
- Superior Deep Freeze
- Esus Wildness (central passive)
While you are still leveling, use:
- Inferno instead of Deep Freeze
- Frost Nova (mystical) and Fireball instead of some of the passive skills
These enchantments you need: As a Sorceress, you can place 2 of your skills in enchantment slots to gain passive bonuses. Here, you use Ice Blades and Teleportation to benefit from the vulnerabilities. Until you’ve found your uniques, you should use Fireball as an enchantment instead of the blades.
This is how to play the build: The gameplay is quite simple: With Teleport (and the Robe of the Infinite), you gather enemies at one point and cast meteors until the enemies are dead. The armors provide you with barriers and thus with damage multipliers. Through your cooldowns, you summon Ice Blades, which reset cooldowns in turn. Deep Freeze is your filler and resets all cooldowns at the push of a button.
Meteor Build – Paragon and Glyphs
These Paragon boards and glyphs you need:
- Start – Elementalist
- Scorching Heat – Adept
- Master Enchanter – Enhanced
- Static Wave – Control
- Burning Instinct – Destruction
- Ice Cold Fate – Flame Devourer
These glyphs you should upgrade:
- Upgrade Adept to level 15 first, then Control, Flame Devourer, and Destruction. Finally, Elementalist and Enhanced. Torch serves as a placeholder.
- Destruction and Control should then be prioritized to level 21, followed by Adept, Flame Devourer, Enhanced, and finally Elementalist.
Meteor Build in Season 3 – Legendary and Squire
These legendaries & uniques you need:
- Head: Falling Star Diadem (unique; must be found)
- Chest: Robe of the Infinite (unique; must be found)
- Hands: Shattered Stars (must be found)
- Legs: Disobedience (Kehjistan; Halls of Damnation)
- Feet: Swift Connection (Arid Steppes; Condor Temple)
- Amulet: Three Curses (Hawezar; Serpent’s Nest)
- Ring 1: Rusty Seal Ring of X‘Fal (unique; must be found)
- Ring 2: Tal Rasha’s Shimmering Band (unique; must be found)
- Weapon: Vain (must be found)
- Focus: Elemental (Arid Steppes; Pale Sink)
Until you find the necessary aspects and items, you can rely on some alternatives. In particular, the headpiece and the aspect of the shattered stars are only useful in combination. Until then, use:
- Aspect of the Unyielding (Head)
- Aspect of Control (Hands)
- Snow Veiled Aspect (Chest)
- Wonderkind’s Aspect (Ring)
You can best farm the diadem from the beast in the ice. For all other uniques, there are also bosses in Season 3 where you can farm them specifically. You get Uber uniques best from Duriel:
This is how to skill your squire:
- Adrenaline Rush with Tactical Support, Duration Support, and Initiative Support
- Hurricane with Arc Support, Efficiency Support, and Backup Support
If you have mana problems, especially at the beginning, you can use Resource Support instead of Arc Support. You can find all the stones and the functions of the squire in our guide.
In general, you can replace the tuning stones with the two Uber uniques if you find them.
These gems you should socket:
- Armor: Rubies
- Weapons: Emeralds
- Jewelry: Skulls
Final Tips: The meteor build has great potential, but it is extremely tiring to level up. You will have little fun, especially before you have found at least the meteor unique. Especially against bosses, you can’t do much; the build is simply not designed for that. Single targets take forever. You will probably find it much easier to level and farm using the ball lightning build, even though you will have to farm longer. You can find all top builds in our tier list for Diablo 4 Season 3.
