Blizzard announces what to expect in Diablo 4 in 2025. In this ARPG, you will get new powers in every upcoming season, but also new loot pets and a few updates for the base game. We summarize all the new content for you.
In a roadmap, Diablo 4 presents its content for the current year. Roughly in every quarter, fresh content awaits you – in the seasons, however, the ARPG stays true to itself and continuously delivers new powers. The roadmap also teases what will come to fans in the following year.
New Content for Diablo 4 in 2025
What can I expect in Diablo 4 in 2025? Blizzard presents in its roadmap the content that is yet to come in Diablo 4 in 2025. This includes the themes you can expect in the seasons, new loot pets, various events, and permanent updates for the base game.
When will new content be released? The new content is roughly released with each new quarter in the ARPG. Whether the season themes will ultimately have the same names as shown here remains to be seen. The indicated timeframe is likely to correspond to the seasons, so:
- Season 8: April to July – “The Return of Belial”
- Season 9: July to September – “Sins of the Horadrim”
- Season 10: September to December – “Hellish Chaos”
Will there be new classes? The roadmap does not mention a new class. However, if the upcoming expansion follows a similar pattern to Vessel of Hatred, a new class could be introduced in Diablo 4 with the 2nd DLC in 2026.
When will the next expansion be released? The original plan for Diablo 4 was to release a new expansion every year – the first one came out in 2024. With the second expansion, however, this plan must already be postponed.
All Seasons in Diablo 4 at a Glance
This is what awaits you in 2025 in the “Age of Hatred” in Diablo 4:
- “The Return of Belial” (April to July): In Season 8, you will take on the powers of 24 bosses when you defeat them – thus, you will gain their attacks or passive bonuses for your builds. Belial is one of the three new shelter bosses you can expect. There will be a seasonal “appearance raid” event and one for the 2nd anniversary of Diablo 4. There is a new loot pet, and both the Battle Pass (“Reliquiar”) and the season journey will be revamped.
- “Sins of the Horadrim” (July to September): In the summer, Season 9 focuses on Horadrim powers. The “Order of the Horadrim” is a brotherhood of mages founded by Tyrael. A new “Dungeon Escalation” event is introduced, along with new permanent activities in the nightmare dungeons, and a fresh loot pet. Additionally, you will be able to play Diablo 4 on consoles with a keyboard and mouse.
- “Hellish Chaos” (September to December): From September, which corresponds to Season 10, you will receive chaos powers for your builds. The hell hordes will get an update, another loot pet is waiting for you – and additional content is planned, about which Blizzard has not revealed anything concrete yet.
Second Expansion and Leaderboards Come to Diablo 4 in 2026
This is what awaits you in 2026: The roadmap provides a small glimpse into the content for the upcoming year. Among other things, you can expect:
- a new expansion
- a new ranking system
- leaderboards
Originally, it was planned to provide an expansion for Diablo 4 every year. With Vessel of Hatred, there were already delays because the team put more resources into improving quality – leading to a delay in further development. The second DLC for Diablo 4 is therefore only scheduled for 2026.
With the overhaul of the Battle Pass system, the team aims to respond to community feedback and make the pass more customizable. In the “Campfire Chat” livestream on YouTube, community director Adam Fletcher explained on March 7, 2025, that players should receive the rewards they truly want.
The fundamental concept of the seasons seems to remain true – it continues to be about new, powerful powers. In Season 7, it’s the witch powers that complement your builds:
With Season 8, new bosses will permanently enter the game, and also the summoning of bosses in Diablo 4 will receive an adjustment. You will no longer need materials to summon the bosses. However, for the materials, you can open chests for more loot after the boss fight.
Additionally, Blizzard is tweaking the difficulty in Diablo 4 for Season 8 – only the top 10% of players should even be able to reach torment level 4. You should no longer be able to one-shot bosses – if you even make it to that level. On top of that, there is a new boss, Belial, who is supposed to really challenge you.
