Diablo 4 will feature microtransactions, through which you can buy cosmetic items. The developers have now explained what you can expect in this regard. Glitter rainbow unicorns are not included.
What can you buy in Diablo 4? Blizzard wants to give you options to customize your hero in Diablo 4. For this, you will use the item shop to purchase cosmetic items.
This way, you get a character that you can design according to your vision. You can present this hero to other players in the Shared World.
The atmosphere remains intact
How does this affect the atmosphere? The thought of cosmetic items immediately brings to mind the image of barbarians jumping around in pink bunny costumes. But that would destroy the dark atmosphere of the action RPG. And that is exactly what Blizzard wants to avoid.
What do the developers think about cosmetics? Game Director Luis Barriga explains that he always utilizes the craziest possibilities in games. If you give him too many buttons, he will create the silliest hero with them. However, this is not supposed to happen in Diablo 4. You will get options to customize your hero, but they should not disrupt the immersion with the game world.
It’s all part of the immersion. We don’t want players to create someone who feels out of place in the world. That breaks the immersion and ultimately feels wrong. We always want players to feel like they are in a medieval town. That’s why we have horses and no crazy high-fantasy mounts.”

No pink glitter unicorns in Diablo 4
What does this mean? The developers of Diablo 4 will offer you cosmetic items that fit the dark atmosphere of the game. So you won’t be riding through the world on pink glitter unicorns, nor will you encounter a druid in a pink tutu.
Blizzard emphasizes again that Diablo 4 will be dark and brutal. The first videos of the game have already demonstrated this. The team will not ruin this atmosphere, which has been carefully chosen for the hack ‘n slash, with inappropriate items.
What do you think about this? Do you find it good or would you have preferred crazy options for customizing your hero?
