Once you reach level 15 as a Sorcerer in Diablo 4, you automatically receive the quest “Legacy of the Magi.” This quest is essential for your class as it unlocks the enchantments that provide you with passive versions of skills.
How do I start the quest? Upon reaching level 15, the quest “Legacy of the Magi” appears in your journal. Your objective is now to follow the “astral call.” The quest marker will guide you to the Shattered Peaks in the Desolate Highlands, southwest of Kyovashad.
As you explore the area, you will eventually encounter Mordarin, the traveling Sorcerer, whom you need to speak to. He mentions that he is searching for the book “Forgotten Codex” – the manual for enchantment techniques. Unfortunately, the place is crawling with demons, and indeed you must retrieve it.
You will find the book in the dungeon “Forgotten Archives”
Where do I find the book? To find the book, you need to enter the dungeon “Forgotten Archives,” which will be marked on your map. You can find it southwest of the waypoint “Nevesk.” Inside the dungeon, you will mostly encounter hostile woodworkers. You will find the chest with the book on the right side of the dungeon.
What do I do with the book? Once you have the book in your inventory, you should return to Mordarin. You give him the codex pages and then follow him into the small den next to you – “Abandoned Stall.” There, you need to ignite the four fire bowls, which works with a click.
After that, a few demons will appear that you need to eliminate. Afterwards, Mordarin tells you that he should probably go over the notes again and leaves you with the book. You have successfully completed the quest “Legacy of the Magi.”
Unlocking the Enchantment Slot
What do I get from this? By completing the class quest, you unlock the enchantment slot. You can assign skills to this to receive passive bonuses. For example, you can now use “Enchantment: Fireball,” which makes enemies explode in a fireball upon death, dealing damage. You unlock a second enchantment slot at level 30.
