The big announcements about Diablo 4 at Blizzcon 2019 keep coming. Talent trees and rune words were also announced. What does that mean?
Diablo 4 has been officially announced! At this year’s Blizzcon, Blizzard dropped the bomb and announced the next installment of the series. In their stream, they presented in addition to the 3 classes also the optimization of your character.
This means you will be able to enhance your class with talent trees and rune words. This brings joy to many players, as rune words have not been seen since Diablo 2.
How rune words and skill trees change your characters
What are rune words? Old fans of the Diablo series will remember these words. Rune words were last found in Diablo 2. With them, you can customize your characters. Each rune word has different effects on your character and enhances different stats.
What’s the deal with talent trees? These are also known from the Diablo series and work as you would also know from other games. Here, too, you have great opportunities to customize your character.
What does this mean for the playstyle? You can perfectly adapt your chosen class to your playstyle. If you play particularly aggressively, you can especially use rune words in that respect and expand your talent tree. This makes your character feel even more like how you want it. The possibilities for variation are enormous.
John Mueller, Art Director of Diablo 4, says about the features: “You can create the Barbarian of your dreams.”
How are the features being received by players? Both features are being received with great enthusiasm. Especially rune stones seem to have been missed in Diablo 3, as the joy over their return is great.
It is hoped that Diablo 4 can be a mix of the two predecessors in this area. For example, bleedblue89 writes on reddit: “I am so hyped about the [rune stones] and the talent trees. This could become a combination of Diablo 2 and Diablo 3. I would really love that.”
