MeinMMO informs you about everything important to grab lots of chests in a Helltide event from Diablo 4 and gather materials for bosses: chests, loot, tips, and all the info about the event.

Through the Helltide, you can acquire strong loot in Diablo 4. However, what is even more important in the endgame are the materials you can obtain during these events. Since Season 4, you can collect numerous materials there, including those needed to summon bosses.
Materials you can obtain include:
- Demon Roses
- Replacing secondary stats on equipment
- Angel’s Breath
- Crafting potions, enchanting items
- Forgotten Souls
- Upgrading equipment
- Living Steel, Exquisite Blood
- Summoning bosses to farm uniques

Helltide: All Info
What is the Helltide? It is a limited-time regional event that is available from the normal difficulty level. Certain regions of the open world of Diablo 4 are affected by the Helltide, and you can collect Anomalous Embers here.
You can spend Embers for “Tormented Gifts”. These are special chests that are only available during and within the event. These chests cost different amounts of Embers and indicate to you with a symbol on the chest which type of gear is contained.
The chests for 75 Embers contain Forgotten Souls, Legendaries, Uniques, and, like all chests, Oboluses, which you can exchange for items with a vendor.
At the torment levels, there are also chests without equipment binding, and this is where the good stuff is usually found. The mysterious chests cost 250 Embers and offer the best yield: several Legendaries and/or Uniques for various equipment slots and Angel’s Breath, which you need for crafting potions.
Additionally, since Season 2, there are new chests that cost 275 Embers. Here you get 5x Living Steel
, with which you can summon Grigoire.
How often does the Helltide occur? The Helltide event runs every hour for 55 minutes and starts in a random area. When it ends, there is a short break of 5 minutes, and then it starts again. During this time, you can empty your inventory, organize chests, sell, and break down loot.
How many chests can you take? This depends on the region and how much Embers you collect during that time. In many areas, there are 8–9 chests that you can open if you have collected enough Embers.
Since there are usually only one or two 250-ember chests in a region during the event, it is worth grabbing the chest first and then the smaller ones. If you need “Living Steel”, first pick up the 275-ember chest. However, you also get 1 steel from all other chests and sometimes as drops from elite enemies.
Helltide: Collecting Anomalous Embers
How do you collect Anomalous Embers the fastest? Through elite foes and events. The Embers are dropped by enemies; you need to pick them up. Rotate through the active area and run from one open-world event to the next. You can recognize events by the orange circle on the mini-map.
Run to the next possible location after an event and take down large groups of monsters along the way. If you spot an elite opponent, it’s worth dismounting as well. You can recognize elite foes on the mini-map by a skull symbol.
Important: If you die, you lose half of your Embers. It also doesn’t matter if you get revived.
What should be noted? Here are a few tips for your hellish ride:
- If you have unlocked higher torment levels but prefer to gather Embers at lower levels, you can switch in between and spend your Embers there for chests with stronger items. However, keep in mind that the monster levels are higher, the fights are tougher, and your armor and resistances are lower.
- Play in a group. This is especially helpful for the new ritual where you summon mobs and a boss with Unholy Hearts.
- Interact with objects – all have a chance to drop Embers.
- Red glowing objects definitely give more Embers.
- Spend your Oboluses before the start.
- Empty your inventory in between.
- Play cautiously and sometimes retreat when things get tight. Don’t die!
- Watch out for the random rain of fire, which causes a lot of damage and can make a manageable fight dangerous.
- Check beforehand which chest you want to open and keep an eye on the timer in the upper right corner.
- You keep your Embers when you teleport.
- Once the current Helltide event is over, you lose your current Embers. A message will appear on the screen just before it ends.
- Legion events and world bosses can also spawn in Helltide regions.
Helltide: Threat Level and “Cursed Ritual”
What is the threat level? The more monsters you slay and the more gifts/chests you open, the higher your “threat” rises. At maximum threat, assassins will appear behind your back, targeting you.
Once your threat increases, the game will notify you with a hint, something like: “The powers of evil are getting angry.” When the threat bar is completely filled, the elite opponent “Helltide Bloodletter” appears. If you defeat him, your threat will decrease. You will receive Legendaries and various boss materials from them.
What is the ritual about? With Unholy Hearts you find in Tormented Gifts, you can additionally start a new event, the “Cursed Ritual” for a boss fight and loot. On the map during the Helltide, you will find the symbol for the Cursed Ritual. There, three sockets will be available where you can place Unholy Hearts. This is worth it, especially with more people joining.
Once you have activated the ritual, monster mobs will spawn, and finally, the Blood Maiden, a boss with strong fire attacks. Make sure to dodge well, because: if you fall, you will lose half of your Embers. During the ritual, the boss will also spawn additional elite opponents. And if your threat gauge fills up during this, assassins and Helltide Bloodletters will spawn, which can get pretty chaotic.
Helltide: Why It Is Worth It
The Helltide events are extremely strong, especially after switching to a new difficulty level. You can obtain items with high item power and take a whole bunch of new “cursed” equipment with you.
But even aside from the loot, the events are essential for your build because here you get Angel’s Breath, Demon Roses, and Forgotten Souls. You need them to upgrade and customize your equipment. Furthermore, you will gain various materials needed to summon the bosses.
