The amulet Fractured Winterglass is one of the most popular items for Sorcerers in Season 5 of Diablo 4 because it is the core item for the “Frozen Orb” build. MeinMMO reveals where the amulet drops, how to farm it, and how to use it effectively.
Where does Fractured Winterglass drop?
- The best source for Fractured Winterglass is Lord Zir. You can find the boss in the “Seating of the Ancient” in the Shattered Peaks.
- To start the fight, you need Exquisite Blood. You can best obtain the blood in Hell’s Floods and here from Blood Maidens, otherwise from World Bosses and Legion Events.
- You can find in the guide all important information about Lord Zir, how to summon and defeat him.
This is what makes the amulet so good: With Season 5, all Uniques have become stronger, and they now serve as truly the strongest items for certain builds.
The Fractured Winterglass has particularly useful stats for the “Frozen Orb” build. The build is ranked as A-tier in the tier list of the best builds in Season 5. The amulet provides you with the following for the build:
- Cooldown reduction on summoning spells when Frozen Orb explodes.
- A chance to double cast Frozen Orb.
- Up to 75% reduced non-physical damage.
- +3-4 to Summoning Arts.
As a legendary effect, the amulet gives you a chance of up to 65% to cast a random summon when Frozen Orb explodes. Summons also have a lucky hit chance to fire Frozen Orbs.
You will additionally summon Hydras and Ice Lances that shoot through enemies just by casting Frozen Orb. The build is suitable for both large groups of enemies and single bosses, which is not the case with many Sorcerer builds.
Fractured Winterglass for the “Frozen Orb” Build – Here’s how to play it
The playstyle of the build is quite simple: you basically just spam Frozen Orbs and watch everything around you explode while Hydras and Ice Spears sweep through the enemies. It is important that the final explosion hits the right target.
Otherwise, you keep yourself alive with Ice Armor and Flame Shield. However, you need to pay close attention to your mana. Other items that you should ideally have in the build are:
- The Robe of the Infinite
- Tibault’s Will
- Tal’Rasha’s Shimmering Circlet
- The Ring of the Starless Skies
- The Harlequin’s Crown (“Shako”)
You can conveniently also obtain the Robe of the Infinite directly from Lord Zir. You can best farm Tal’Rasha at Lord Varshan and you can find Tibault’s Will, Shako, and the Ring of the Starless Skies at Duriel and Andariel:
You can find the build in detail on maxroll.gg. It also lists the required Paragon boards and skills.
With the appropriate items, you can then teleport enemies to a point and blow them up with Frozen Orbs all at once. The orb itself makes enemies vulnerable, multiplying your damage.
Before you have the necessary items, you should ideally play a different build. The lightning builds of the Sorceress are often quite good for this because they are generally less mana-hungry than the frost builds. A higher level also helps.
