At the beginning of April, the test server for Season 4 of Diablo 4 was up, and experts tested various builds. Here are the strongest builds for all five classes that emerged.
During the PTR (Public Test Realm), streamers presented various builds, showcasing high damage numbers flashing across the screen. We could see builds where players could oneshot the “Level 200” versions of bosses.
Season 4 starts on May 14, and many experts are already showing the builds that they believe will top the tier lists in the new season.
Sorceresses continue to dominate the leaderboards. Here you can see a video about the rankings that will remain even beyond Season 3:
The strongest builds for Season 4 in Diablo 4
In a YouTube video from April 9, Diablo expert and content creator Rhykker provides insight into the strongest builds for Season 4 that have been noted in the PTR. Rhykker is part of the Maxroll.gg team, one of the most known build sites.
In the 25-minute video, he explains how the skills work and shares speculations for the upcoming season. We summarize the builds below. Keep in mind that classes may still be adjusted and individual skills or builds could be nerfed.
Barbarian – Whirlwind Build
What is the strongest Barbarian build? For the Barbarian, a Whirlwind build has crystallized as the “top performer” of the builds. Here, you are not reliant on uniques, and the build is considered good for entry into the class.
With the Whirlwind Barbarian, you scream at your opponents, whirl through enemy lines, and deal bleeding damage as well as increasing critical damage. The shouts bring your power and that of your allies to a new level. You obliterate any larger group of enemies with a dizzying whirlwind.
For the build, “Tempering” is crucial, one of the new crafting options in Season 4. With “Tempering,” you have the opportunity to add affixes and enhance certain abilities, allowing them to be cast more often – like “Dust Devils.”
What skills do I use?
- Whirlwind
- Challenging Shout
- War Cry
- Battle Cry
- Leap
- Berserker’s Rage
Sorceress – Frozen Orb Build
What is the strongest Sorceress build? For Season 4, Rhykker recommends the “Frozen Orb” build, which requires a specific unique to be particularly effective. This is the new “Fractured Winterglass” amulet, which drops from Lord Zir at World Tier 4. The build is said to be quite strong and surprisingly “tanky.”
With the build, you basically spam Frozen Orbs continuously, making your opponents vulnerable. You rely on a high lucky hit chance, as this gives you a higher chance to reset the cooldowns of defensive skills through the passive skill “Elemental Harmony.”
The amulet also ensures that casting Frozen Orb has a chance to create a random summon when it explodes. With lucky hit, summons also have a chance to shoot Frozen Orbs at nearby enemies. Teleport is your mobility ability in this build.
What skills do I use?
- Frozen Orb
- Ice Spear
- Flame Shield
- Ice Armor
- Teleport
- Lightning Spear

Necromancer – Pest Build
What is the strongest Necromancer build? For Season 4, Rhykker recommends a Pest build for Necromancers that can deal significant damage. He assumes that the build will be nerfed, yet could still remain at the top of the tier list. Additionally, he suspects that with the adjustments in Season 4, minion builds will also be among the top builds.
The Pest build revolves around shadow damage and the new unique “Ebonpiercer,” an amulet that drops from Grigoire at World Tier 3 and 4. This allows the Pest skill to shoot 4 smaller projectiles that pierce enemies and inflict shadow damage for 3 seconds.
Additionally, you’ll add a lucky hit affix to your wand with “Tempering,” which can significantly enhance your shadow damage (by up to +23,000). With “Withering,” you slow your enemies, while the “Blood Mist” gives you immunity for a few seconds. You also equip the “Ring of the Souls of Sacrilege,” which automatically triggers your equipped corpse explosion.
What skills do I use?
- Pest
- Bloody Harvest
- Bone Storm
- Blood Mist
- Corpse Explosion
- Withering
Ranger – Rapid Fire Build
What is the strongest Ranger build? As a Ranger, you play a rapid fire build that relies on the new unique ring “Scoundrel’s Kiss,” which you can obtain from Lord Zir at World Tier 4 in Season 4. You can also play the build without “Scoundrel’s Kiss,” but it is much more efficient and lethal with the ring.
The ring grants you additional ranks on the rapid fire skill and ensures that the skill shoots exploding arrows that deal increased damage. With “Tempering,” you further maximize the damage by adding an affix that could allow rapid fire to cast a second time.
The Ice Infusion envelops your weapons in icy energy. With “Stab,” you throw blades at your enemies, and your exploding death trap inflicts immense damage on your opponents. Shadow Step and Dash are mobility skills that also deal damage.
What skills do I use?
- Rapid Fire
- Stab
- Shadow Step
- Ice Infusion
- Death Trap
- Dash

Druid – Werewolf Tornado Build
What is the strongest Druid build? The Druid uses a variant of the actual Werewolf Tornado Build, which has been modified through various items in Season 4. The Tornado Build integrates pets that will receive a buff in the upcoming season.
With the “Shepherd’s Aspect,” you receive a damage boost for every companion you have. You not only equip wolves and ravens but also skill the ravens so that two extra attacks regularly occur. The more pets you have, the more damage you deal.
You add an affix with “Tempering” to your weapon for a chance for tornado projectiles to trigger twice. For the build, you will also need the unique helm “Tempest Roar” (Storm Roar), which you can farm from Duriel.
What skills do I use?
- Tornado
- Weakening Roar
- Poison Vines
- Ravens
- Trample
- Wolves
These are the strongest builds in Season 4 of Diablo 4, based on the PTR. How the builds and individual skills will perform in the new season will be revealed in May.
