The producer of some of the best parts of GTA is making his own shooter, which is set to be released even before GTA 6.
Who is it about? Leslie Benzies was a producer at Rockstar North until 2016. He was responsible for the development of GTA San Andreas, Liberty City Stories, Vice City Stories, GTA IV, and GTA V, as well as Red Dead Redemption.
Especially GTA San Andreas is popular among fans of the series and has achieved a sort of legendary status. As Carl Johnson, it took players to San Andreas for the first time, featuring 3 cities as part of the game world.
Meanwhile, Benzies has founded his own studio called “Build A Rocket Boy” and is developing his own shooter called “MindsEye,” which is set to be released on Steam in the summer of 2025.

What kind of game is this? In MindsEye, you play as the former soldier Jacob Diaz, who suffers from memory loss and carries a mysterious neural implant in his head. Throughout the game, you embark on covert missions and confront political corruption and corporate espionage. Additionally, artificial intelligence is said to pose a constant threat.
The gameplay trailer gives a first taste of what to expect in MindsEye – and even resembles GTA a bit: There is a sunny metropolis, fast cars, third-person shooting, a cover mechanic, and, of course, wild chases with plenty of explosions.
Perhaps a game is being created here that can shorten the wait for the release of GTA 6.
While MindsEye aims for a release in the summer of 2025, GTA 6 is currently targeting fall 2025. Additionally, Borderlands 4 is set to be released in September.
