Monster Hunter World was received exceptionally well by German PC gamers. It was so well received that the PC became the second most successful platform for the game.
What do we know about the success? The British marketing director of Capcom, Antoine Molant, spoke with PCGamesInsider.biz about the development of the game.
He stated that the PC version of Monster Hunter World was the second most successful version of the game. Especially in Germany and Russia, the game was played to such an extent on PC that this result came about.
Why MHW was so successful on PC
This is why Molant explains the success: The PC version of the game was released after the console version. Therefore, it is only understandable that the other versions are more successful.
Nevertheless, Molant also saw a positive in this. “This actually helped, as the PC version has its own window for promotion, PR, and marketing. Even on the PC side, some countries like Germany or Russia developed very well. All of this really boosted our success in Europe.”
Which platform is the most successful? Molant did not provide information on this. However, one can assume that it will be the PS4 version, as the Xbox was not widely sold in Japan. In that Asian country, the game is most popular.
That’s why the PC version is so popular here: We Europeans prefer playing on PC more than Asians do. For that reason alone, this version is so well received here.
Furthermore, Capcom also made significant adjustments to the performance of the PC version. That is also why the game came out in August for the PC and not in January like the other consoles. This seems to have paid off.
This many players played it in 2018: In total, there were 12 million players of Monster Hunter World in 2018. By August, there were already 10 million units sold. However, it is unknown how that was distributed across platforms.
This is how it should continue: Molant also announced that they want to continue to grow on that success: “We have announced Monster Hunter World Iceborne and will have more news to report in the future. Given the success of Monster Hunter World, it will be a key project for us,” he said.
