In the MMO shooter Destiny, scheduled maintenance is taking place today. The servers on PS4 and Xbox One are offline. Update 2.4.0 is coming with new features.
Update: 2.4.0 is now available for download. It is indicated (on PS4) as version 1.27.
- The detailed weapon balance changes with Update 2.4.0 are already known.
- Here you can find the patch notes for Update 2.4.0
This evening there won’t be a cozy Destiny session with friends. Because the servers are completely unreachable all evening. Bungie is making great preparations for “Rise of Iron” in the form of Update 2.4.0, which will be needed for gaming right after the server downtime.
- At 5 PM our time you won’t be able to log into Destiny.
- At 6 PM, all players still in activities will be roughly removed. So make sure to finish your mission beforehand.
- The maintenance is expected to last about 7 hours, so it should be possible to continue around 1 AM the next day. Now you will need Update 2.4.0.

New features with Update 2.4.0 – What’s changing
Already during the maintenance, Update 2.4.0 will be preloaded. You can download it in advance. A specific time is not provided. It is only available to PS4 and “Xbox One” guardians.
Two important changes are coming:
- Preparation for Ingame Clan Roster: With RoI, changes to the clan system are coming. Ingame, a roster, a kind of overview list of all clan members, will be displayed. In preparation for this, clan features will be disabled starting with Update 2.4.0. Your clan name will no longer be displayed in the game. Bungie will provide an update before it is restored.
- Sterling Treasures: After Update 2.4.0, you can only receive one Sterling Treasure per week: by playing the Prison of Elders at level 41.
Furthermore, starting from September 20, the Eververse will no longer sell Sterling Treasures for Silver. They will be replaced by “Radiant Treasures,” which can contain “Silver Dust” and new ornaments.
The “Radiant Treasures” are basically an evolution of Sterling Treasures. The ornaments also go a step further compared to Chromatin. The new items will not completely replace the previous ones, but the focus clearly shifts towards “Radiant Treasures” and ornaments.
Update: Patch notes for Update 2.4.0 are expected later in the evening.
