In the MMO shooter Destiny , the first players have acquired 50 calcified fragments. However, the reward for this task was disappointing.
A month ago we wondered: What happens when the first players have gathered their 50 calcified fragments? This is basically the big treasure hunt in Destiny Year 2. The fragments must be found, collected, and pried from dead raid bosses.
With 45 fragments, there was a killer weapon with the “Malevolent Touch”. Since Tuesday, the last fragment was finally obtainable and the reward was… nothing spectacular. Although a quest was indeed “opened” with the 50th fragment, it led back to Eris Morn. But instead of a killer weapon, there was only the “Beltane Shader.”

Could this be all there is? Maybe. Maybe not. Because Eris Morn, with whom you complete the quest “The Old Hunger” definitively says: She will recommend the Guardian. At the moment she still needs to think. Similar signals have already been given by other NPCs. For them, it meant: The quest continues, wait for the next day or for a weekly reset.
Some speculate this could mean that a “new quest” related to the fragments will eventually open up, for which you qualify through “The Old Hunger”. And here there could be something like the “hidden exotic” or the ship “Deadly Visions”, which players are desperately searching for in Destiny.
As is often the case with Destiny, little is known, much is speculated, and hopes are high. Even if there is indeed a quest tied to this, we do not know when Bungie’s “time lock” expires, whether it might happen just before Christmas during the weekly reset or later, when new game content is supposed to be released.
