In Destiny 2, the new season of the Wanderer is ushered in with update 2.2.0. In addition to new content for Season 6, numerous changes are also included, from which two weapon categories could particularly benefit.
These power weapons should be tried out with the new patch: The studio aims to massively strengthen legendary rocket launchers and grenade launchers, so well-rolled specimens can compete better with exotic weapons in the power slot in terms of pure damage.
This way, Guardians who enjoy playing with exotic firearms in the kinetic or energy slot will receive more options for their loadout.
These changes are set to be introduced with update 2.2.0, which launches the new season 6 on March 5 in Destiny 2.

What is the problem with legendary power weapons? Currently, it is the case that legendary power weapons, with few exceptions like the heavy machine gun Hammerhead or rocket launchers with cluster bombs, are clearly outperformed in most situations by exotic competition.
Weapon exotics like the Sleeper Simulant, the Donnerlord, or the Whisper of the Worm are currently hard to surpass when it comes to maximum damage output. Most legendary power weapons, therefore, gather dust in the vault.

Bungie now wants to change this by strengthening legendary power weapons. The goal is for Guardians to choose exotics because they fit their playstyle, not because there is no alternative in terms of damage.
The difference between exotics and legendaries should not be so great that there is essentially no real choice.
What is changing with power weapons in update 2.2.0
Keep in mind that these changes only apply to legendary examples of these two weapon categories. Weapon exotics that fall under this category will be adjusted individually.

The changes for grenade launchers: Grenade launchers had issues with their ammo reserves, making them very inconsistent. In addition, the damage in PvE was simply too low to seriously keep up with other heavy weapon categories. As a result, they played hardly any role for most guardians.
This is precisely what Bungie is now addressing:
- The damage of grenade launchers in PvE has been increased by 25%
- Additionally, the ammo reserves of most grenade launchers have been increased. Most launchers received three shots in their reserves, which can, however, be changed with perks like “Ready for Anything”
- Furthermore, magazine perks and mods no longer affect the reserves

The changes for rocket launchers: For legendary rocket launchers, there has so far been essentially only one real alternative – the cluster bombs. This perk can nearly double the damage output of the corresponding launcher under ideal conditions.
Bungie also wants to provide more options here with the following changes:
- The PvE damage of rocket launchers will be increased by 60% to 65%.
- The damage of cluster bombs will be reduced by about 80%. However, this will be compensated by the damage increase for the rocket itself
This should make rocket launchers more reliable and effective – especially against aerial targets. Cluster bombs have almost never reached these.
These weapons are also changing: With the beginning of Season 6, other weapon categories will also be adjusted. For example, some things are set to change for shotguns and linear fusion rifles.
