The last week before the release of Season 18 begins in Destiny 2. Before you start sweating and preparing for the work ahead, we will show you what to expect in the last week.
What’s happening this week: Only one week stands between you and Season 18. So, to be perfectly prepared for the new season, you now have the last chance to gather and stock up on challenges and resources.
Bungie offers you the opportunity this week to earn bonus ranks in almost all activities. These include Gambit, the Crucible, and the Vanguard. So if you’re missing a season ornament for the “Chain of Command” machine gun, it’s best you get going.
Additionally, today’s weekly reset might also contain a surprise before the new season begins. Joe Blackburn, Bungie’s Game Director, cryptically spoiled something today:
One cannot overestimate how important the earlier seasonal work was to learn how to make the live game. Many cool seeds were planted in the Season of Worthy [Season 10], who knows where they could lead!
wrote Joe Blackburn via twitter
As a reminder: In Season 10, the Guardians had to hunt a Psion Flayer who wanted to launch a desperate revenge maneuver against the Last City. They had help from the Warmind Rasputin.
The important info on activities from August 16 to August 23.
Vanguard: Nightfall – The Crucible
The Nightfall: The Crucible is the strike this week:
- Test Grounds, in the massive land tank of the Cabal on Nessus
- The Guardians have proven themselves on Cabal battlefields and battered through the ranks of the Cabal to finally face the Champion of the Empress in the “final test.” But he hurls homing Solar balls at you and uses his Cabal bubble for protection.
This is the Nightfall weapon of the week: As a reward, the Champion of Caiatl, the strike boss, will drop a special Nightfall weapon as usual, which you can also receive in the “Grandmaster” difficulty as a Master version.
- Silicon Neuroma – A kinetic sniper rifle
Playlist strikes have these modifiers:
- Solar Singe
- Stasis Burn
- Grounded
- The Singe modifier will accompany you all week, while the others change daily.
Endgame: Raid Challenges and Dungeon Rotation
What’s happening in the latest raid “The Oath of the Student“:
- In the “Oath of the Student” raid, you should complete the challenge “Basic Information” this week. So if you collected a symbol for the Obelisk, you may not exceed the buff “Increased Knowledge.”
- As a reward for the challenge in the raid encounter of the “Caretaker” on Grandmaster, this week you have a chance at a Master version of the submachine gun “Submission,” the grenade launcher “Afterthought,” the linear fusion rifle “Catastrophic,” or the pulse rifle “Insidious.” However, keep in mind that Hard and Normal mode share the loot.
Additional pinnacle rewards from the endgame:
- In the raid “Last Wish” in the Dreaming City.
- As well as in the dungeon “The Shattered Throne” in the Dreaming City.
Weekly Activities
With Season 17, more activities have also entered the game. Explore the Leviathan and face the Nightmares or surprising boss opponents in the new patrol zone. Take the Solar Sense there and defend yourself in the Nightmare containment. Additionally, you can expect these weekly activities:
Savathun’s Throne World – Weekly Campaign Mission
- “The Spirits”
- The Guardians have discovered traces of a ghost pointing to Sagira. Can the dead ghost of Osiris help unlock the secret of Savathun? But to uncover the memory, you must first find him.
Crucible – These are the PvP playlists:
- Private match
- Rumble
- Control
- Elimination
- Glory Survival
- Glory Survival: Freelance
- Showdown
- Team Scorched
Ascendant Challenge – Dreaming City
- Petra Venj has this week’s 3rd Ascendant Challenge for you. You can find Petra and her quest offer at the location “Divalian Marsh” in the Dreaming City. The city of the Awoken is entering the second level of corruption.
