From today, Destiny 2 will be festively decorated, as the Weekly Reset also marks the start of the free Dawning Event 2022. We at MeinMMO will keep you updated on what’s happening at the Tower this week and what new things there are to discover.
This week’s events: A lot is happening today in Destiny 2. On one hand, the new weekly seasonal story quest from Season 19 begins. This means players can experience another part of the story and find out how Rasputin’s resurrection continues.
Many Guardians hope they can enjoy this new week again with the comfort provided by Bungie and third-party apps.
Additionally, the free Winter Event, the Dawning, is starting. As every year, Bungie wraps the Tower in the most beautiful winter atmosphere and invites the Guardians to bake delicious cookies for the NPCs. As a reward, Dawning armor and weapons await, as always provided by Eva Levante, along with legendary snowball fights against enemies in the open world.

According to the latest leaks, it is no longer excluded that other previously missing items could come into play in Season 19.
The most important information about activities from December 13 to December 20.
What Guardians can expect at the Dawning Event
“The Dawning” is a limited-time and free event in Destiny 2 that will take place from December 13, 2022, to January 2, 2023. As every year, there will be winter-inspired armor, and of course, Dawning weapons, as well as frosty armor ornaments and cosmetics.
Which weapon can be earned in 2022 during the Dawning? The weapon is the 450 RPM Stasis pulse rifle called “Stay Cool”. It comes with the origin perk “Dawning Surprise”. Additionally, there will be further winter-themed cosmetics to discover.
- Dawning Surprise: When you defeat targets quickly, you receive a Dawning gift. Defeated powerful targets count as more than one defeat.
Who can participate in the event? Every Guardian is invited to take part in the activities of the Dawning 2022. To participate in the event, you do not need to own any DLC or a Season Pass. It is sufficient to have played the first introductory mission in the Cosmodrome to join.
Strike: Nightfall – The Trial by Fire
- The Scarlet Fortress, Moon
- Hashladûn, the daughter of Crota, awaits you on the Moon, and Eris Morn speaks of powerful energies in the great tower. Gain access to the fortress, as Hashladûn’s presence is no coincidence. The Hive has greater ambitions towards the Moon Pyramid than one might suspect.
This week’s Nightfall weapon is: As a reward for your run, you always receive a special Nightfall weapon. With the grenade launcher “Wendigo” and the scout rifle “Disunity”, Bungie has chosen two Guardian favorites that will later also be available as a master version in Season 19.
Playlist Strikes have the following modifiers this week:
- Void Singe
- Stasis Burn
- Grounded
- The Singe modifier will accompany you all week, the others change daily.
Endgame: Raid Challenges and Dungeon Rotation
What happens in the raid “Kingsfall”:
In the current raid “Kingsfall”, you must face the third raid challenge to receive more loot.
- To complete the third challenge “The Astonished Gaze”, it depends on the two “Gaze Bearers” or also “Anger Drawers”. Thus, the one who initially drew the gaze of Golgoroth must stand with the rest of the team in one of the reclaimed light pools to deal damage. Only then may the second player sneak behind Golgoroth and fire at the yellow hit point to reclaim the ogre’s gaze.
You can expect the following raid requirements and challenges:
- In normal mode, completing a challenge gives you double loot.
- Only from the Grandmaster raid do you get status-specific armor and master weapons.
- You can also earn the new raid-exclusive exotic cosmetics in the Oryx look in the Grandmaster.
Additional Legacy Pinnacle Rewards from the Endgame:
- Head into the raid “Garden of Salvation”.
- Play the dungeon “Pit of Heresy” for more pinnacle loot.
Crucible – This is the PvP Playlist:
- In PvP, the mode “Mayhem” returns
- Each match lasts about seven minutes and your super abilities have a significantly increased charge rate.
Playlist Bonus this week:
- This week, it’s ringing in Gambit, as there are bonus reputation ranks to be earned there.
Weekly Activities
In Season 19, titled “Season of the Seraphs”, Guardians can expect various PvE activities. They include:
- The Heist Battlegrounds
- The exotic mission “Operation: Seraph’s Shield”
- From December 20, the exotic weapon “Revision Zero”
In addition to Season 19, the previous DLC Seasons from “The Witch Queen” are still active until the next DLC-Lightfall. For example, you can participate in the weekly repeatable campaign mission and earn pinnacle loot there.
Savathun’s Throne World – Weekly Campaign Mission
- “The Arrival”
- This week you can play the first campaign mission on Grandmaster difficulty. You infiltrate a Cabal base on Mars and then bravely investigate Savathun’s ship for clues about the Light.
Ascendant Challenge – Dreaming City
- Petra Venj has this week’s 2nd Ascendant Challenge for you. You can find Petra and her quest offering at the location “The Shore” in the Dreaming City. Savathun also has her fingers in the game here, as the curse begins to reclaim the sacred city of the Awoken at level 1.
