During the PlayStation presentation at E3 2018, there was a glimpse into the story of the Destiny 2 expansion “Forsaken.” What this means and who the masked person in the video is, we will clarify here.
After the upcoming expansion “Forsaken” for Destiny 2 was presented, there was finally a small preview of the story. Much is not revealed, but it seems that the Hunter leader Cayde-6 is in big trouble in “Forsaken.”
Cayde-6 in Danger
What can be seen? The trailer begins with a close-up of Vanguard member Cayde-6. He appears to be injured, kneeling on the ground, with his ghost hovering beside him. The camera slowly pans 180 degrees to the right.
Next, Cayde’s ghost can be seen, apparently worried about his buddy – until he is taken out with a bullet. Next, you see the weapon with which the shot was fired: it is Cayde’s own hand cannon, but held by a masked person.

The camera pans to the face of the masked figure and now veterans of Destiny 1 should start to suspect who it is: Uldren Sov, the brother of the Reef Queen.
Uldren aims the weapon again and shoots. As the camera continues to pan, you see Cayde-6 lying on the ground while Uldren and his entourage walk past Cayde’s lifeless body towards a portal.

Who are the others in the trailer: Uldren is accompanied by some Fallen, likely members of the House of Kings.
It could also be that the others are the eight Barons. These are eight notorious criminals who escape from a prison. It is possible that Uldren orchestrates this prison break and thereby sets the story of Forsaken in motion.
Who is Uldren Sov?
Prince and Master Spy: Uldren Sov is an Awoken and the brother of the Reef Queen, Mara Sov. He is known as both the Prince of the Reef and the “Master of Crows.” His “Crows” are both his spies and surveillance devices that resemble the birds of the same name.
Where has Uldren been since his disappearance? Players last saw both Mara Sov and her brother Uldren in the cinematic for the Destiny 1 expansion “The Taken King.” In the fight against Oryx’s Dreadnaught, Mara seemed to sacrifice herself while her brother crashed with his ship.
Through dead ghosts in “The Taken King” as well as in the later update “Age of Triumph,” players could at least learn what happened to Uldren next. The prince was not idle during our escapades with the Iron Lords.

Uldren and the House of Kings: After his ship was damaged in the battle for Saturn, Uldren crashed on Mars. When he awoke, he was surrounded by his Crow devices, which repaired his ship and assisted him in searching for his sister.
Some time later, it seems that Uldren encountered the Fallen House of Kings, a powerful house based on Earth that operates from the shadows. He allowed himself to be captured and pretended to be broken so that he could be brought to the leader of the house – the Kell. His plan was to sway the house to his side and make them loyal subjects.
What does the trailer mean for Cayde-6?
Ghost dead, oven off? The trailer clearly shows that Uldren first shoots Cayde’s ghost before aiming the weapon at the Hunter. This eliminates Cayde’s opportunity to be revived.

Uldren knows this because while the Awoken of the Reef were fighting the House of Wolves, an unfortunate incident during an airstrike not only killed the Fallen soldiers, but also wiped out three strike teams of Guardians along with their ghosts. This incident led to tensions between the Reef and the Last City of humanity.
Should players be worried about Cayde-6? It is unlikely that Bungie would simply let one of the most beloved characters in the Destiny universe die. At the end of the trailer, a figure can also be seen carrying the lifeless Cayde. Either way, the Hunter leader will still play a role in “Forsaken” and perhaps the Guardians will seek a way to revive Cayde after all.
