Destiny 2 has announced Update 7.1.5.1, which brings several changes and improvements. However, in order to apply these updates, the servers must be temporarily taken offline. MeinMMO will keep you informed about everything regarding the planned maintenance.
What you need to know today: Update 7.1.5.1 for Destiny 2 is scheduled for today, July 25, during Dive Season 21. The maintenance works are routine and should not take long. However, players will also be temporarily unable to access the game.
8:11 PM: In the meantime, the download of the update has worked. The download size is 119.4 MB on PC.
7:45 PM: It wasn’t a smooth start this Tuesday during the Weekly Reset. After the upload of Update 7.1.5.1 was not possible, Bungie just reported via Twitter that the downtime has been extended. Further updates on this issue are expected around 9:00 PM.
7:00 PM: In the meantime, the servers should be back online. However, logging in is not possible. An upload is also missing. Bungie has attached the patch notes that we will link to you at the end of the
article, and one of the currently disabled mods has been reactivated.
5:15 PM: Bungie has taken its servers offline. Maintenance has begun, and you will have to wait a while before you can get back into the game.
4:00 PM: Destiny 2 has started the maintenance. Players should prepare for being kicked out of their ongoing activities in about an hour. We have provided you with the exact maintenance times further down in the article.
We will keep you updated here with a live ticker during the server downtime. So keep an eye out for updates to this article.
A new in-game messaging system? This latest support message from Bungie was communicated via Twitter “X”. However, since the service’s takeover by Elon Musk, unregistered users can no longer see tweets on the platform and must create an account first.
Players have inquired with Bungie whether an in-game messaging and update system would be a better solution. The developer responded that they are looking for solutions.
In the game, the summer event is currently shining, especially with the new armors. However, some guardians had to look closely to even notice their white glow in 2023.

Maintenance on July 25 – All times for server downtime
These times are important today: Today’s update will, as always, appear for all platforms, including PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, as well as PC. According to current planning, the planned downtime is 1 hour and 45 minutes. Last week, this schedule from Bungie went extremely smoothly.
MeinMMO will track the server downtime and regularly update this article with the latest information from Bungie support. Also, if there are any changes to the times.
This is the exact schedule for today’s maintenance in Destiny 2:
- 4:00 PM: The background maintenance begins on all platforms.
- 5:15 PM: Bungie will take the servers offline. Players will be automatically kicked out of the game.
- During the downtime, Update 7.1.5.1 will be installed and gradually rolled out.
- 7:00 PM: The expected login should be possible again in time for the Weekly Reset.
- The maintenance will continue in the background until 8:00 PM. This means that you should expect a slight “server hiccup” during this time.
Also, please note that third-party applications as well as the official companion app may not be properly accessible for a certain period of time, so they cannot be used.
What changes with Update 7.1.5.1 in Season 21
What the hotfix brings today: As always, Bungie is working on the list of known and confirmed issues. Here’s a brief overview of what Bungie might fix today:
- The event challenge “Flame Keeper” shows an incorrect symbol on the event map.
- The rocket launcher “Crowning Dialogue” is not displayed in the collections.
- The sunlight armor sets are not displayed in the collections.
- There is an issue with igniting armors that prevents some players from completing their Solstice quests and generates a permanent popup window with instructions.
- Several mods are currently disabled in the game:
- All-Purpose Kickstart: A sphere of power grants 1 temporary armor charge.
- Detonation Boost: Grants class ability energy on damage with a grenade.
- Impact Induction: Damage with melee attacks reduces grenade cooldown.
- Momentum Transfer: Damage with grenades reduces melee cooldown.
- Focused Attack: Grants class ability energy through damage with melee attacks.
- The defense with the Arc Staff super, while using the hunter’s exotic helmet “Blight Ranger”, inadvertently consumes extra super energy.
- Certain scopes of the hand cannon “Judgment” have lost their red dot.
- The Guardian Games Sparrow “Glowing Paragon” cannot be acquired from the collections. The exotic bow “Wishender” does not reliably shoot through the shields of the Cabal and Hydra.
- Player name changes are not infinitely customizable via bungie.net. Several “Number Guardians” are still waiting for the option to change their username again, instead of receiving the message “You have no name changes available.”.

In addition to maintenance and updates, cheat providers are also a problem for Destiny 2. Some of them are unwilling to give up the lucrative business of hacks and cheats:
