Today, on 08.12., the new update 3.0.1 is available for Destiny 2 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PC, and Google Stadia. It fixes many issues and finally brings the next-gen upgrade. This is happening today: Destiny 2 is changing quite rapidly this evening. Players on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S will finally receive their next-gen upgrade. Destiny 2 is also introducing a comfort feature for all Guardians, fixing issues from Beyond Light and bringing back a popular activity.
Update 19:30: The maintenance has been extended until 20:00 (Bungie via Twitter). Currently, some Guardians are complaining about the error code “Chicken” and other connection issues.
Update 17:10: The update is now available on all platforms. On PS4, it has version number 2.06 and is 1.83 GB in size. If you’re playing on the next-gen consoles PS5 or Xbox Series X/S, you will need to reinstall the entire game. According to Bungie, this version will only be available at 18:00.
Here’s how to download Destiny 2 on PlayStation 5:
- To download the next-gen update, you may need to start the download manually.
- Navigate to the Destiny 2 icon on your home screen.
- Select the “three dots” next to the icon.
- Here you can choose the PS5 version.
- If that does not work, go to the store and manually select the PS5 version through the 3 dots on the Destiny 2 tile.
As a result, maintenance will take place from the afternoon of December 8th with a server downtime later on. You will not be able to play Destiny during the evening hours.

- 16:00 Maintenance will start on all platforms.
- 17:00 the Destiny servers will go offline and the downtime will begin. All active players will be removed from their activities.
- Simultaneously, update 3.0.1 will roll out globally.
- 18:00 the servers will come back online.
- Once the update has been downloaded (and copied), you can play Destiny 2 again.
- 20:00 the maintenance is scheduled to end.
By the way, the servers for Destiny 1 will also be inaccessible during this time.
Keep in mind: There may be queues during login or connection issues until the end of maintenance work. Additionally: Third-party applications and the official companion app will be unavailable during this period.
What changes with update 3.0.1 in Beyond Light?
