With the start of Season 5, the Season of the Forge, there will be new pinnacle weapons for Guardians to pursue in Destiny 2. Bungie has detailed these firearms and revealed how to obtain them.
New pinnacle weapons are coming: In Season 4, the hunt for pinnacle weapons like the hand cannons Luna’s Howl and Not Forgotten or the pulse rifle Redrix’s Claymore captivated numerous Guardians.
In the upcoming Season of the Forge, the arsenal of pinnacle weapons will be expanded. Bungie fulfills a great wish for many fans: finally, both PvE and the Gambit mode will have their own top weapon.
Look forward to these pinnacle weapons in Season 5
What are pinnacle weapons? Pinnacle weapons are some legendary firearms described by Bungie that are hidden behind lengthy quests and require significant effort and time to obtain. So far, these include:
- Redrix’s Claymore (Season 3, no longer available)
- Redrix’s Claymore (Season 4)
- Luna’s Howl (Season 4)
- Not Forgotten (Season 4)
Guardians must complete a whole range of challenging tasks to ultimately obtain these weapons. However, they will also be rewarded with firearms that are among the best that Destiny 2 currently offers.
Three new pinnacle weapons for Season 5: In the Season of the Forge, Guardians can expect three new pinnacle weapons. PvE, the Crucible, and the Gambit mode will each receive their own pinnacle weapon. Compared to previous examples, obtaining these top guns will not be as difficult. However, this does not mean they will be handed out easily.
By the way: All previous pinnacle weapons, except for Redrix’s Claymore, can also be earned in Season 5.
Fusion Rifle “The Recluse” – The Pinnacle Weapon of the Vanguard in Season 5
Many Guardians have waited for this – finally, PvE fans also receive their own pinnacle weapon. In Season 5, players can earn the fusion rifle “The Recluse” from the Vanguard.
This is what The Recluse can do: It is a fusion rifle with high impact and arc damage. Its unique perk “Stored Shot” does the following:
- When the weapon’s battery is full, the next shot deals additional damage, and enemies explode upon death
This is how you get it:
- First, you need to get the quest from Zavala in the Tower
- Achieve a total of 500 kills with fusion rifles in any strike or Nightfall
- Achieve 1000 arc kills in any strike or Nightfall
- Complete 40 strikes. Nightfalls count towards this
- Progress for these tasks is accumulated simultaneously
- Then return to Zavala. There you will receive the masterwork version of The Recluse
AUTO-Rifle “The Breakneck” – The Pinnacle Weapon of Gambit in Season 5
As Bungie has already announced, Gambit players will soon enjoy their own pinnacle weapon. This is the auto rifle “The Breakneck”.
This is what The Breakneck can do: The Breakneck is a precise auto rifle for the kinetic slot. Its unique perk is called “Rampage” and has the following effect:
- The fire rate of The Breakneck increases by stacking the perk “Rampage”
This is how you get it:
- Get the quest from the Drifter in the Tower
- Achieve 500 kills with auto rifles
- Achieve 100 multi-kills with auto rifles
- Defeat 150 challenging enemies (orange or yellow life bars, bosses)
- Complete 40 Gambit matches
- Progress for these tasks is accumulated simultaneously
- Once you have completed all tasks successfully, return to the Drifter to receive the masterwork version of The Breakneck
Grenade Launcher “The Summit” – The Pinnacle Weapon of PvP in Season 5
Crucible enthusiasts will also receive a new pinnacle weapon in Season 5, which they can work towards in addition to the existing PvP top weapons. This is the grenade launcher “The Summit”.
This is what The Summit can do: The Summit is a lightweight grenade launcher for the kinetic slot. Its unique perk is called “Micro-Rocket” and does the following:
- The grenade launcher fires straight shots (no drop-off of projectiles with increasing distance), and the projectile speed is significantly increased
- Additionally, the projectile of this grenade launcher explodes on impact (unless sticky grenades are selected), instead of bouncing like a traditional grenade launcher
By the way: It is the only lightweight grenade launcher with a sticky grenade option. A direct hit with this grenade launcher is lethal.
This is how you get it: For The Summit, Guardians need to work a bit harder than for the other two new pinnacle weapons of Season 5:
Step 1: Reach the Glory rank “Brave” within a season.
Step 2: Step 2 consists of several tasks to complete. In each of these tasks, players progress for actions in any PvP playlist. However, if you play in the competitive playlist, you can secure valuable bonus progress:
- Get kills in the Crucible with a grenade launcher – 750 points. Kills in standard playlists give 3 points each. Kills in the competitive playlist grant 10 points per kill
- Quickly defeat at least two enemies in the Crucible – 200 points. Double plays in regular playlists give 2 points each. Additional kills immediately after double plays earn one point each there. Double plays in the competitive playlist award 5 points each. Additional kills immediately after a double play earn 2 points each
- Earn “Calculated Trajectory” medals – 100 points. A medal in regular playlists grants you one point. Medals in the competitive playlist award 4 points each
Step 3: Reach the Glory rank “Famous” within a season.
Step 4: Once you have successfully completed all these tasks, you can return to Lord Shaxx to pick up the grenade launcher.
By the way: All these tasks are account-wide in Season 5. This means that players can complete them on any of their characters.
