This month, it should become less frustrating to obtain one of the best sniper rifles in Destiny 2. A rare and often annoying bounty is being adjusted.
What is the deal with the rare bounty? The exotic sniper rifle Izanagi’s Burden is among the best snipers in Destiny 2. However, if you want this weapon, you will have to undertake a long quest and complete it.
One step of this quest requires you to find a so-called Obsidian Crystal. You can only get this from a rare bounty from the Black Armory. This, in turn, is only available as a random drop from the daily and weekly bounties of the Black Armory from Ada-1.
What is the problem with the rare bounty? The bounty itself is perfectly doable. The issue with the rare bounty is that it is heavily dependent on chance, i.e., RNG. For some players, it truly lives up to its name and can prove to be rare in the truest sense – sometimes even extremely rare.
How rare is this bounty? How rare it is can be seen in the example of the Reddit user Herraeme. In a Reddit post with over 5,000 upvotes, he recently lamented exactly this problem.
According to his own statements, he was only able to finally equip the coveted exotic weapon 89 days after he started grinding all daily and weekly bounties for Ada-1’s rare bounty.
Keep in mind: The rest of the quest is then comparatively easy and can be comfortably completed over 1 to 2 evenings, after the Shattered Throne (also one of the quest steps) is now permanently playable. So most of the almost 3 months were likely spent solely on the hunt for the rare bounty.
What is supposed to change? Bungie also became aware of this Reddit post and responded through Community Manager dmg04.
He initially apologized to the thread’s author and expressed respect for their perseverance. He then shared that Bungie is working on a change for this problem. It should no longer be so annoying to obtain this rare bounty for the Izanagi quest. However, he did not provide specific numbers or ideas.
When is this change coming? Bungie did not specify an exact time. However, it was said that the change is expected to be implemented in January with a new update.
The next opportunity could be the update 2.7.0.2 on tomorrow, January 14. This hotfix is supposed to address several issues in Destiny 2 – perhaps the rare bounty will already be adjusted there.
