In Destiny 2, the exotic armor piece Orpheus Rig is causing a stir. It is referred to by many as “the best Hunter exotic.” Why is that?
The community is currently examining all exotic armor pieces in Destiny 2 thoroughly. There are a total of 33 pieces – eleven for each Guardian class.
Currently, the Orpheus Rig stands out – this is a leg armor for Hunters, which is referred to by many Guardians as “the best Hunter exotic.” The reason: With it, the Nightstalker Hunter can unleash nearly infinite super attacks if the exotic is used correctly.
How do I get Orpheus Rig? – Location
There is no source that guarantees you Orpheus Rig as loot. You have to rely a bit on luck – or, if Xur sells it, act quickly.
You have a chance to obtain Orpheus Rig from all sources that can drop exotics. Farm exotic engrams, complete weekly milestones, and earn faction rewards. A quick “farming method” includes public events – but, as mentioned, you need luck.
What makes Orpheus Rig so powerful?
To benefit from Orpheus Rig, you need the Nightstalker Hunter. This is its “Void focus,” which you need to unlock first.
Orpheus Rig only enhances the super of the Nightstalker. The perks are:
- Intrinsic perk: You gain ability energy for every enemy you tether with a Shadowshot.
- Additionally, you have perks that can increase either mobility or resilience.
The Shadowshot is the super of the Nightstalker. The more enemies you tether, the more ability energy is charged. The “abilities” refer to the grenade, melee, dodge ability, and the super.
The special thing is: If you manage to tether enough enemies, you can immediately fire another Shadowshot. Approximately 7 to 8 tethered enemies are needed to completely fill the super bar, as you can see in this video (timestamp marked 2:51):
If you are surrounded by enemies, you can unleash one super after another.
This means: Orpheus Rig is especially recommended in PvE when numerous adds are attacking. In all other situations, this exotic shines less.
In the Guardianship, it has been repeatedly criticized that the Hunter is hardly suitable for playing cooperatively. Other classes have better abilities for teamwork with other Guardians. However, with the Orpheus Rig, the Hunter becomes a useful team member, as he is extremely good at crowd control (he can stop enemy blobs) and also generates lots of orbs of light for allies. This way, allies can quickly reach their supers as well.
Especially in raids, this exotic could be the best choice when dealing with hordes of enemies.
