This Guardian has developed a special ritual in Destiny 2 to guarantee two Exotics from public events.
Exotic weapons and armor pieces are the most sought-after items in Destiny 2. They offer unique advantages in combat, get you up to the maximum power level, and are great for collecting.
Now the Guardian eec-gray is causing a stir in the reddit forum. He claims to have found a “foolproof” method that guarantees 2 Exotics from the chests of public events. Normally, these chests grant at most one exotic engram – if you’re lucky. You can see this ritual here:
Currently (October 5th around noon), nearly 200,000 people have seen this method. It is: Take a Striker Titan, sprint toward the chest, and hit it with raw force using the shoulder charge a few meters around. The chest is said to drop two exotic engrams.
What is this ritual that is supposed to work “guaranteed” all about?
The Search for Secret Mechanics in Destiny
In short: What you see in the video is, of course, not reproducible. The ritual is nonsense. If you hit the chest, you will definitely be regarded strangely by your fellow players, but you will not receive two guaranteed Exotics.
Although this ritual ultimately is just nonsense, the Redditor is not severely insulted but rather receives thousands of upvotes. The reason: Such wild theories are amusing and show the players’ eagerness to uncover every secret in Destiny 2. They are a fixed part of games with large communities.
For example, in Destiny 1 there was a “chest whisperer.” He bowed before an EXO chest in the Vault of Glass, spun around three times, bowed again. And since the chest then – coincidentally – contained a Gjallarhorn, this ritual was immediately posted as a “foolproof” Gjallarhorn method in the reddit forum. After all, everyone wanted that gun in Destiny 1, and the hunt for it sometimes took absurd turns.
In Destiny 2, although there is no weapon with “Gjallarhorn status”, the community still pays close attention to guaranteed methods of acquiring Exotics.
The question still remains how it actually happened that the chest from the public event dropped two Exotics. One user suspects that the Guardian forgot the loot from the previous public event and therefore received double loot at this event. This has happened to him before. That there were now two Exotics in the chest was extreme luck.
But who knows, maybe there is actually a hidden algorithm to influence the loot in the chests. The community will not give up the search.
Will you start hitting the chests before opening them in the future?
