If you roam through Destiny 2 in Savathun’s Throne World, you’ll occasionally discover some strange buildings that have the typical look of Darkness. These are part of a brand new Public Event that came with the new DLC. We explain what to do in the Escort Event and how to trigger it heroically.
Each Public Event in Destiny 2 is unique. They start at timed intervals at every location in the Destiny universe. Players can join at any time and must complete various tasks to earn a reward. It’s no different in Savathun’s Throne World.

Most of the time, you accidentally stumble into a Public Event, which can be quite confusing. Often, it’s not just about killing enemies, but also completing small tasks. So if you have no idea, you might miss a great opportunity.

Savathun’s Throne World has three Public Events
With the release of the successful expansion “The Witch Queen,” Bungie has now brought a new mini-adventure into the game. Along with the “Ether Ritual” of the Scorn and the “Witch Ritual” of the Taken, the secret weapon technique of Darkness is now included.
The Public Event is also the first Escort Event in Destiny 2. It invites players to a different kind of sightseeing tour with enemies and a tough final boss.
What is the new event about? The event “Resonance Shard” revolves around an illegal cargo transport. Once the event starts, players must escort a Resonance Shard, a type of pyramid superweapon, through a set route in the Throne World. However, the Scorn wants to prevent the Guardians from destroying the shard. Therefore, numerous Scorn enemies await along the way to the checkpoints, trying to hinder you.
Where can you find the new Public Event? If you want to participate in the Escort Event, the best place to check is the courtyard area on the east side in the Swamp. Additionally, the event also starts in the southern part of the Miasma area in Savathun’s Throne World.
Players in Destiny 2 are currently often roaming through Savathun’s Throne World and the Enclave on Mars to uncover all secrets. The first exotic missions are already known and reward players with three new weapon exotics.
How does the Public Event “Resonance Shard” work?
- When the event starts, the triangular sled with the shard appears at the start. Several buildings of Darkness will also materialize in the area. The goal of the players participating in the event is to escort the shard to its destination as quickly as possible.
- Always stay close to the shard and defend it. You can recognize the shard by a faint orange circle around it. Only if you are within this circle does the sled move forward. Many players also enjoy jumping directly onto the sled and killing the Scorn enemies that spawn before them from there. It’s also a great way to enjoy the view.
- After a certain distance, the shard will then stop in front of a large orange dome. It cannot pass through. So get off and jump into the dome. There, among many nasty Scorn foes, you will see three small shards of Darkness that you must destroy.
- The shards are always in the same place at each event and can be shot down with any weapon. But hurry, as the event is timed.
- There are a total of three stops, including a final destination, for the Resonance Shard sled. Repeat the dome game until you reach the endpoint, a platform with two pillars.
- The sled will now automatically drive onto this platform, and numerous Scorn enemies will spawn around it, which you need to clear out. Protect the shard until it has parked and delivered its cargo. After that, the sled takes off into the air, ending the event.
How to trigger the Public Event “Resonance Shard” heroically
Of course, you can also trigger a heroic variant of the “Resonance Shard” event. This yields better loot and more experience points at the end.
Heroic variant rewards you better: To play the new event heroically, you need to pay attention to a small detail.
- While escorting the sled through the Throne World, some enemies drop small orange orbs that you can collect. These are Resonance Charges.
- So grab the orbs whenever possible and throw them at the shard. Typically, 5-6 orbs are enough for the event to switch to heroic mode.
How do you throw a Resonance Charge? On PC, you use the right mouse button to throw the Resonance Charge orbs. On the console, use the standard throw button. However, keep in mind that the orbs should be collected quickly from the ground, as they disappear after a certain period.
