We have sorted the plethora of tips into different categories. This way, you can benefit from the immense knowledge of the veteran Destiny players and become a showcase Guardian.
Finding the right gear
Which weapon suits me? There are a large amount of firearms in Destiny 2. They are also divided into three slots, different ammunition types, and elements. Give the different weapons all a chance and see for yourself whether the slow revolver or the fast-firing auto rifle fits your playstyle.
Test your weapons, your rolls. Don’t let anyone tell you “You have to play with this”, find the right weapon type for you.

This is how weapons differ: All weapons are divided into different fire rate and penetration power types. The values of a weapon determine how it behaves and feels. Thus, even an identical weapon can differ from its namesake. For example, due to higher stability, Variant A can be significantly more precise than Variant B – which comes with more handling and is therefore more grippy.
Feel free to use weapons that you initially didn’t like again. Experiment with all your options and familiarize yourself with the quirks of the completely different weapons.

The Crucible
This is the PvP of Destiny: Besides fighting together against the Darkness and the various enemies of the Guardians (PvE), you can also compete with other Guardians in the Crucible. In the PvP activities overseen by the NPC Lord Shaxx, you face human players instead of AI-controlled opponents.

In the Control mode, the goal is to capture as many of the three zones as possible. The entire team benefits from captured zones. If you control 2 zones, you receive double points per kill. If you manage to hold all three zones simultaneously, you even get triple points.
Many Guardians are frustrated with teammates who do not pay attention to the tactical components and just charge in wildly.
If you play PvP, then don’t play competitively! Go for quick play.

Quick Play is particularly suitable if you want to learn about Destiny’s PvP. Once you’ve gained enough experience, you can try your luck in the so-called Comp.
In the competitive playlist, the fighting is noticeably harder, as Guardians drop in rank after a loss. Powerful weapons await you as a reward in the higher ranks.
Gambit
What is Gambit? Gambit is staged by the shady Drifter. The mode is a mix of PvE and PvP elements. Two teams of four compete simultaneously but separately against waves of enemies.
The goal is to collect particles dropped by defeated enemies and store them in a bank. Once enough particles are collected, the boss appears. Several times during the round, players can invade the other team, disrupting or stealing particles.
Here’s how you play Gambit correctly: To finish a round in Gambit, you need to summon and defeat the powerful boss, the Primeval. In Gambit Prime, this boss spawns when your team has a total of 100 particles in the bank. The Drifter will inform you if the team has collected enough particles to summon the boss.
If only 3 particles are missing for the 100, don’t fill up the 15 before you hand them in… In the best case, you’ll end up short and everyone has to go again.
Nexxos Zero
Nothing is more annoying in Gambit than teammates who prefer to collect particles further instead of turning them in on time, slowing down the whole team.
First the Witches!! Only then the Primeval! First the Witches! It can’t be that hard.
Antester
Once you’ve filled the bank and summoned the Primeval boss, he will be accompanied by his envoys. These witches should ideally be taken out very quickly, as the boss becomes significantly easier to fight afterward. In Gambit Prime, the Primeval is even invulnerable as long as the three envoy witches are on the field.
Playing Together
This is how Destiny is more fun: Almost all activities in Destiny 2 are designed so that you can embark on them together with a fireteam. In most activities, you can team up with up to two other Guardians. Some activities, like the notorious Raids, can even be taken on with up to six players.
Don’t play alone / Be brave. Destiny only unfolds through co-op and is ten times more fun when played with friends.

Large parts of the PvP or the Vanguard Strikes have an integrated player search feature that connects you with similar-minded Guardians automatically. Other modes, like the more challenging Nightfalls and Nightmare hunts, require you to find your own teammates.
