Destiny 2 has received new top weapons at the beginning of Season 5 that should keep the Guardians engaged in the long run. However, it seems that for some players, this happens faster than expected. For others, this might now become a problem.
In Destiny 2, the Season of the Forge officially began at 6 PM on November 27. Since then, Guardians have had the opportunity to hunt for three new top weapons. However, one player has already earned the top weapon from the Crucible on the very first day and is now making waves in PvP.
The grenade launcher “The Climb” is a killer machine in the Crucible
Players already out with the top weapon: As the exceptional player Gigz reported on Twitter, he has already earned the new grenade launcher “The Climb” – and that on the very first day of the newly started Season 5.
He had to go through quite a bit for the grenade launcher. Because even though the top weapons from Season 5 are not as demanding as Luna’s Howl, Not Forgotten, or Redrix’s Claymore from Season 4, the new top weapons are certainly not given away.

Therefore, this could become a problem for others: Gigz is a “full-time player” as a streamer, and his performance is not representative of other Guardians. However, the fact that he already has the grenade launcher reveals why the weapon could become a problem for other players over time.
Already, when the new top weapons were introduced ahead of Season 5, several fans expressed concern that the grenade launcher could turn the meta upside down and dominate the Crucible. This now seems to be coming true, as Gigz impressively demonstrates in an attached video that “The Climb” is an absolute monster in PvP.
The reactions to the first detailed gameplay of the weapon are very clear. Many see this grenade launcher more as a real party pooper or even a death blow to the Crucible of Destiny 2 – and not as an enhancement.
Initially, as expected, the best PvP players will get their hands on this top weapon. All others will increasingly face a weapon or whole setups that normal players can hardly compete against.

The already deadly grenade launcher is also handled in the kinetic slot and can thus be combined with other top weapons like Luna’s Howl or Not Forgotten, which particularly strengthens the top players in PvP even further.
If one frequently plays against such opponents, the average player – meaning the vast majority – understandably quickly loses interest. This could drive many players out of the Crucible and ultimately ruin PvP, according to fans’ concerns.
What do you think of this grenade launcher? What influence do you think it will have on the Crucible?
