Right now, a new riddle is captivating players in Destiny 2. Once again, the community is coming together and working hand in hand to solve the mysterious puzzle in the Corridors of Time. Here’s a summary of what is known so far.
What’s happening right now in Destiny 2? With the Weekly Reset on January 14th, a new quest unexpectedly arrived in the game. You receive it from Osiris on Mercury, and it is called “Exploration of the Corridors of Time”.
The quest sends you through the Sundial, a type of time machine, where you traverse the eponymous corridors and must solve a puzzle.
What is the new riddle about? The focus is currently on solving the puzzle. Various codes are entered, which ultimately seems to piece together or reveal some sort of encrypted map.
However, the riddle is not yet solved, as the puzzle appears to continue beyond the codes.
Whether a big reward awaits at the end, possibly another exotic, is still unknown. So far, players only receive lore entries as a reward for each correct code – and an emblem.
What we know so far about the new quest “Exploration of the Corridors of Time”
This is how the puzzle works: After you have visited Osiris and grabbed the quest, the general instruction is: Explore the Corridors of Time. There are no specific instructions or hints.
You then simply activate the Sundial and are teleported into these corridors. There the riddle awaits you.
After activating the Sundial, you will spawn in the so-called starting room. Here you walk straight ahead until you reach the triangular door and then pass through this door. This leads you into a room with various symbols on small obelisks – each next to another door. Entering one of these doors brings you into another similar room, and so on.
The goal is to pass through 7 doors in specific sequences to reach the end room, the time-lost vault. You don’t need to kill any enemies. The sequence is determined by predetermined combinations of the obelisk symbols next to the doors. These are the codes, which consist of 7 characters.
If you pass a valid combination, you land in the end room and can interact at the edge of the glass surface to collect new lore.
By the way: In the center of the room, there is a kind of grave or sarcophagus on an island. If you try to reach this grave, you will be teleported (not yet?) back to the starting room. Sometimes, however, you die in the process. Just walk back to the center of the room to return to the starting room.
If you interact with the small obelisk next to the door in the starting room, the puzzle resets, and you can pass through the labyrinth in a new order to collect the next piece of lore.
This is how you enter new codes and keep running through the Corridors of Time until you have gathered all lore entries.
What symbols are there exactly? A code consists of a combination of 7 symbols, of which there are only 6 different ones, and only 5 are crucial for the code itself.
- Cup: This allows you to reset an incorrect combination. Because through the door marked by this symbol, you return to where you came from.

Where do the codes actually come from? New codes appear hourly since the quest was released – and they can be accessed via the obelisks of the Sundial on the planets.
The combination can be read in the order shown in the picture and is reset every hour:
What happens next after the codes? In the lore book, there are 19 corresponding entries. Players thus assumed that there are 19 codes. This has been confirmed, all 19 codes are now known. But how the puzzle will continue beyond that – remains a mystery.
However, it is suspected that the riddle will unfold even further.
This is because on the grave in the middle of the room (which is believed to possibly be our own grave) there is a sword attached. A ghost is also visible.
Some believe that this quest could start for a new exotic sword (perhaps Darkdrinker?) or that a sword could be awarded at the end of the puzzle. Because the shape of the sword (just above the grip) resembles the exotic swords from Destiny 1.
Additionally, below the glass surface of the time-lost vault, there is a hexagonal shape with numerous symbols after interacting there and retrieving a lore entry.
Many suspect that this could be a type of map. The community is currently working hard to also illuminate and solve this further branch of the quest.

Note: If a code doesn’t work for you, player reports suggest that it helps to complete the combination in reverse, i.e., in the opposite order. Otherwise, you need to reset the whole thing through the obelisk in the starting room.
