In Destiny 2, Xur has the Foetracer, an exotic hunter helm. But what can this do and how do I get Foetracer?
The Foetracer is a new exotic helm for hunters in Destiny 2. You can obtain it randomly from all sources that can drop exotic engrams. Additionally, there is a chance to purchase this now from Xur, the merchant of exotic goods.
The perks of Foetracer
The exotic perk is called “Unyielding Tracker”. The description of the perk states: “Visually marks targeted enemies. Deals more damage to enemies with low health.”
What does that mean? Let’s look at the first part of the perk – visually marks targeted enemies. Veteran hunters will perk up immediately here. Because this perk was originally available to the hunter in Destiny 1, the Diligent Scout.

Nightsingers in Destiny 2 also have an ability that marks enemies. However, with the significant limitation that the marking only applies to enemies bound by Shadowshot.
With Foetracer, all targets are marked that you aimed at with a weapon.
The second part of the perk states that you deal more damage to low-health enemies. Specifically, this means that as soon as the opponent has about 30% of their health left, you deal significantly more damage, and no matter where you aim, you will score critical hits.
Additionally, the damage buff applies to all your sources of damage – whether they are weapons, super attacks, or melee attacks.
In which content is the exotic helm Foetracer useful?
The helm shows its strengths both in the Crucible and in PvE content. The enemy marking can decide victory or defeat in the Crucible and justifies wearing the helm solely with this perk.

Your enemy is wounded and hiding? That won’t help them, you can see them and throw a placed grenade. Even opponents about to run around corners can be quickly targeted. If you also equip the MIDA Multi-Tool, you have created one of the supposedly best exotic combinations in the Crucible. The increased damage also plays a role, albeit a smaller one compared to PvE content.
In the PvE area, the helm is particularly beneficial against tanky bosses. If you use the helm in conjunction with the Merciless, you become a true DPS monster at a certain health level of the enemy.
Hunters who have not purchased the helm yet should grab it from Xur. The investment is also quite cheap at 23 legendary shards!
