Season 23 in Destiny 2 brings not only new content but also the return of the familiar house cats from the Dreaming City. In this guide, we will show you how to find the 14 hidden locations of the star cats and a bonus cat in the Season of Wishes, and what you will get for it.
What’s the deal with the cats? As early as 2018, mysterious Egyptian-looking cat statues roamed the Dreaming City, to which the Guardians could reveal a small gift that has a slight scent of mint.
At that time, there was speculation about what and why cats were so present in the Dreaming City. There were some ideas from the community.
- For example, it is said that the body temperature of the Awoken is responsible for the many cats in their vicinity. This is higher than that of humans, so they feel more comfortable around them.
- Another theory was that cats are as cold and emotionless beings as Queen Mara Sov. For both, humans are often just a means to an end, which they cleverly use to their advantage.
- The third theory was based on the fact that in 2018, there were cat statues that made a connection to the Egyptian goddess Bastet. Since cats tend to be affectionate and protect their young, Bastet was considered the good mother. So, she is what Mara is for her people.
However, this mystery has not been resolved yet. In Season 23, the interdimensional kittens are back. There are a total of 14, and they are purring through the various seasonal activities, where you can once again reveal a small immaterial gift to them.

Here’s how you can gift the star cats in Season 23
All kittens have already been revealed: For Triumph hunters and attentive collectors, the star cats in Destiny 2 are perfect. They are hidden in various places, and you have to look closely to discover them. If you find one, you can reveal a small gift. In return, the cat will give you some rewards before it disappears.
How many cats are there to find? In total, 14 star cats are hidden. There’s also an extra cat. The further you progress in the Season of Wishes
, the more cats become available. We have added all locations in this article in the order of the Triumphs.
If you prefer to search for them yourself but don’t know where to start, you can find hints in the game about the locations. Click on “Rituals” and then on “Secrets” under “Season of Wishes” in the Triumphs.
Star Cat 1: Garden of Riches
Star Cat number 1 hides well. It only appears in the area of the Garden of Riches. Either in a passage called “Polysemy” from Riven’s Hideout or in “The Twisting”. You might need to make a few runs until the right area appears.
If you hit the mark, orient yourself to the back part of the area. The cat will then be somewhat hidden behind a stone, to the left of the staircase in front of the portal.

Star Cat 2: Blind Spring
The second star cat is easy to find. It sits in the Blind Spring in the Dreaming City and scratches at the big door there. It’s best to collect it when the Spring is not active, but it can also be done while passing by.
Star Cat 3: Temple of the Queen’s Wrath
The kitty is hidden again in a seasonal activity, namely in the Temple of the Queen’s Wrath. If you should have missed the area, it’s not a problem. You can also find it in “The Twisting” and “Riven’s Hideout”.
Fight your way through the first section there and activate the three plates. In the temple, you must then kill the boss and light the three torches. Once you have done all that, go through the arches on the right side of the room and turn to the right. The star cat can then be found at the other end in a small nook hidden behind a pillar.

Star Cat 4: Star Light Chamber
House cat number 4 can be found in the Lost Sector Star Light Chamber
. To do this, you must find and unlock the Lost Sector in the Dreaming City. After that, you can play up to the boss room and find the star cat in the middle of the room on a small table. It is calculating gravity there.
Star Cat 5: Coast of Lost Wishes
Star Cat number 5 is also found in a Lost Sector. Land at the Divalian Mist point in the Dreaming City. Then turn around and look for the entrance to the Lost Sector.
The kitty is then directly on a rock to the right of the sector boss’s loot chest, admiring your spheres.
Star Cat 6: Aphel’s Rest
For the kitty in the Lost Sector Aphel’s Rest
, you have to go to the shore in the Dreaming City. It sits there in a bowl. So again, cross through the Lost Sector, defeat the boss, and then check the large bowl behind the chest. There, the sweet thing is licking its hairy paws.
Star Cat 7: Crunching Chamber
The cat in the week of the Eruption event is an Aesthete, as it enjoys looking at art in the Crunching Chamber. Which activity you start to find it doesn’t matter. You can play both The Twisting
and Riven’s Hideout

Once you arrive in the Crunching Chamber and have defeated the enemies, look for the small table to the side. There it meows inconspicuously next to one of the cat statues made of stone.
Star Cat 8: The Plunderer’s Prayer
For this cuddly cat, you have to search outside of reality. To find it, you can either start the mission “Praeteritio” or “Riven’s Hideout”. It’s important that you pay attention to the area “The Plunderer’s Prayer” with the large archway in the middle during the mission. There, the cat sits to the right in front of one of the trees.
Star Cat 9: Cell of the Flatterer
This star cat hides in the Cell of the Flatterer in Riven’s Hideout in the bushes. You have to look closely to spot it. You can play both The Twisting

Star Cat 10: Keres Ridge
Another cuddly star kitten wants to be collected. It hides at Keres Ridge in the Dreaming City.

Star Cat 14: Astral Cloister and Bonus Cat
The last cat to be found in Season 23 enjoys solitude in the Astral Cloister in Riven’s Hideout. This completes your cat army, and you can enjoy the Triumph. However, there is still one more cat.
