In Destiny 2 have the exotic weapons and armor unique abilities and perks. However, some of these abilities are secret and are not explained in the game. Read here what secret talents are hidden behind your Exotics.
Recently, we reported on a secret ability of the new Exo-pistol The Devil’s Ruin. The community is currently debating whether the well-hidden perk is a bug or an intended feature.
In this article, we discuss 14 Exotics that definitely have secret abilities. These are not mentioned at all when inspecting the weapons and armor, but they are present.
These Exo-weapons have hidden abilities
The 1st Exotic – Relentless: The fusion rifle Relentless boasts numerous special features. Your damage or initially slow fire rate increases significantly.
However, there is no mention of faster reloading in the weapon description. Yet, Relentless has the hidden perk “Feeding Frenzy”. After a kill, you will reload noticeably faster and thus benefit from bonus damage more quickly.
The 2nd Exotic – Perfected Outbreak: The pulse rifle Perfected Outbreak has one of the coolest quests and also a cool and useful perk. When fired continuously, the weapon becomes increasingly precise. If you shoot continuously, the bursts resemble a nearly pinpoint laser beam.
The hidden perk is attributed to “Dynamic Swing Reduction” or a feature from Destiny 1: “Persistence”. As we will see later, other remnants from the first Destiny game have crept into the current installment.
The 3rd Exotic – The Queenbreaker: The linear fusion rifle The Queenbreaker was long considered a nightmare for many Gambit players. Now there is another reason to fear the precise weapon.
The Exotic secretly possesses the trait to penetrate multiple targets. This corresponds to the perk “Anti-Barrier Rounds”.
At this point, there is another reason for joy for linear fusion rifle enthusiasts. The identical effect is also present in the non-exotic representatives of this weapon class.
For example, with the new ritual weapon Komodo-4FR you can let multiple Guardians bite the virtual dust. They just need to line up nicely – or you might just get lucky in PvP and they run right in front of your weapon.
The 4th Exotic – Polaris Lance: If you are precise with the scout rifle Polaris Lance, you can admire a solar explosion. The fireball can not only deal area damage but can also trigger some solar abilities.
The Solar Titan benefits from the enemies damaged by flames and activates his solar abilities conveniently through the Polaris Lance. The solar Hunter also draws his benefit from the “Play with Fire” ability from the opponents ignited by the scout.
The 5th Exotic – MIDA Multi-Tool: The Scout rifle MIDA Multi-Tool is probably one of the most well-known weapons in the Destiny universe. It is not surprising that this Swiss Army knife among Guardian guns has a hidden function.
The scout outlines your enemies in red when you observe them through your scope. This makes focusing easier. This is completely in line with the design of the weapon – support in all areas. Faster running, a permanent radar, reduced flinch and maximum aim assist are simply not enough for the MIDA Multi-Tool.
The 6th Exotic – The Jade Rabbit: Like the MIDA, the Jade Rabbit is an Exo-Scout, but the similarities do not stop there. It has the same aim assist integrated and highlights targeted enemies. However, the weapon description does not mention this.
The effect currently seems to be available only on these two scout rifles. Other Exo-Scouts, such as the Polaris Lance, do not have such visual support in the sights. However, there are other weapons with such sights. Usually, the ability is mentioned in the item overview.
The 7th Exotic – Eriana’s Vow: As the only hand cannon with a scope, Eriana’s Vow shares a function with the two mentioned Exo-Scouts. Here, too, an opposing Guardian appears outlined in red when you aim at them through your magnifying optics.
This effect only supports you as long as “One-shot Kill” is active. The fact that Eriana’s can shoot through barriers and even immune phases of raid bosses is not secret. This is an intrinsic version of the anti-barrier mod.
The 8th Exotic – Cerberus+1: The auto rifle Cerberus+1 looks as if it was haphazardly assembled from dozens of different firearms. It fits quite well that a hidden ability has snuck into one of the four barrels.
The projectiles of the rifle become more powerful the greater the distance to the target. This is in stark contrast to usual behavior, as weapons typically lose damage as the target moves further away. At a distance of up to 20 meters, the damage continues to increase.
From 20 meters to 50 meters, the damage remains constant, but as the target moves even further away, the damage ultimately decreases as well. However, Cerberus+1 is still not a convincing long-range weapon. The immense spread can be compensated with the exo catalyst, but not at such great distances.
The 9th Exotic – Skyburner’s Oath: The unusual scout rifle Skyburner’s Oath wishes to deviate from the weapon conventions. When aiming, you have a slowly firing, precise weapon with explosive rounds. Shooting from the hip, the weapon becomes a lightly seeking fireball shooter.
Both modes share the common characteristic of having apparently infinite range. Skyburner’s Oath has shown no damage drop in tests. However, this useful feature is nowhere to be found in the item description.
The 10th Exotic – Lumina: The pretty hand cannon Lumina can be described as the best support weapon in Destiny 2. The floral firearm heals allied guardians and generously distributes damage buffs. It is designed as a counterpart to the destructive Thorn.
But Lumina also remains true to its support service behind the scenes. As a Dawnblade Warlock with the Dawn of Grace, you benefit doubly from the Noble rounds. Normally, your abilities charge faster when you support allies with your abilities.
Even a helping shot from Lumina activates your ability “Gentle Dawn” and thus speeds up the cooldown of the Warlock. This allows you to constantly support your comrades.
The 11th Exotic – Le Monarque: The combat bow with the majestic name Le Monarque focuses entirely on poison damage and damages enemies over time. When equipped with this weapon, you can also enjoy a passive bonus.
As long as the bow is in your hands, you run faster than usual. This ability can be traced back to the secret and intrinsic perk Lightweight. Many weapons in Destiny 2 have a movement boost, but they usually also specify it in the weapon description.
Exotics that match Lightweight weapons in their fire rate do not automatically benefit from it. The strong revolver Sunshot, for example, should actually have the same bonus due to being part of the 150 family, but in reality, only the bow benefits from the speed boost.
These Exo-armors have hidden abilities
The 12th Exotic – Sun Bracers: The special Warlock gloves Sun Bracers revolve completely around solar grenades. In addition to unlimited energy and increased duration, there is a hidden grenade enhancement.
Through the secret perk “Fastball”, you throw grenades farther. The additional throwing distance is noticeably perceptible. With this Exotic, you can distribute your solar grenade rain across the map.
The 13th Exotic – Transversive Steps: The Warlock boots secretly increase mobility speed while crouching. Improved mobility fits perfectly into the concept of Transversive Steps.
The so-called crouch walk speed noticeably improves. In Destiny 1, the boots had this property officially, so it seems to be a transferred relic from the predecessor.
Additionally, the slide distance is covertly increased. This allows the boots to make you run faster, reload weapons while sprinting, but the improved slide effect is not mentioned. In contrast, for example, the Hunter boots St4mp-F3R – here you will be informed about the same effect.
The 14th Exotic – Dune Striders: The Titan boots focused on movement improvement, the Dune Striders, also have the hidden effect of allowing you to slide further. The speed boost while crouching is only found with Warlock boots.

The 15th Exotic – One-Eyed Mask: We have a bonus Exotic for you. The Titan helmet One-Eyed Mask terrorized the Crucible for a long time until Bungie pulled the emergency brake and it got nerfed several times.
The One-Eyed Mask not only empowered Titans to have wallhacks, an overshield, and extra damage but also. Recently, it turned out that the Exotic had a hidden effect: The poor Titans simply couldn’t take the helmet off. The secret perk prevented it until the last nerf.
So anyone who always complained about Titans in the Crucible and blamed the players for only succeeding with such means should apologize.
