It looks like an old Hollywood star might be joining Destiny 2. But in what role? Fans are guessing it could be an Iron Lord who might become important in the future.
Who is it about? It seems that Destiny 2 could expand its cast with another celebrity in the future. For example, in Destiny 1, the actor and series star Lance Reddick was hired as the (English) voice for Commander Zavala, and soon another well-known face could join – the acting veteran Tom Skerritt.
He is well-known among the older generations of Guardians. Skerritt is famous for his roles in Top Gun, Alien, M*A*S*H, Contact, Picket Fences, or Tears of the Sun, as well as in numerous other Hollywood films.
What’s going on between Skerritt and Bungie? Officially, nothing has leaked yet. However, recently Tom Skerritt himself posted a picture on Twitter, sparking all sorts of discussions.
In the picture, the actor is seen in a virtual meeting with several well-known Bungie employees such as CEO Pete Parsons, Community Manager David “DeeJ” Dague, and CPO Amy Johnson.
There are no details about the meeting itself, but Skerritt has a note with text lines in front of him, which many fans believe to be voice lines for Destiny 2. Therefore, many are now sure: Tom Skerritt will be a new voice actor in Destiny 2 – probably for the upcoming big autumn expansion.
After the meeting, many participants thanked Skerritt on social media, so it’s not something that accidentally or unintentionally came to light. Furthermore, Bungie’s CEO chose words that virtually unambiguously indicate a collaboration. It’s great to have him as part of the journey, said Parsons.
What’s also interesting is: Skerritt lives in Seattle, where the Bungie studio is located. This could make the collaboration even easier.
Skerritt already has experience with games: For Skerritt, this wouldn’t be the first time he lends his voice to a virtual character. He has previously voiced Captain Dallas in Alien: Isolation from 2014. A role as a voice actor would fit well.
Whom could Skerritt voice? Many are excited about the likely collaboration and are currently speculating whom Skerritt could voice. Because they probably wouldn’t have gone through such effort for an insignificant NPC, that’s the general sentiment.
Some think he could voice the Iron Lord Felwinter. He has recently been increasingly in focus due to the quest “The Lie”, and could play an important role in the future, which would also require a corresponding voice – just like recently Saint-14.
Others also consider it possible that Skerritt could voice a recently awakened Guardian, an Exo with memory loss, or could speak audio recordings of Clovis Bray, which could play an important role in the upcoming confrontation with the Darkness.
Some were even able to decipher some text snippets from the potential script that Skerritt has in front of him in the picture from the tweet, such as

- “..I(?)..dangerous(?)…”
- “…fly (?) to (?) Mars in a…”
At least the Mars line could make sense, as Mars is a location in Destiny 2 and the Warmind Rasputin, one of the current main characters, is based there.
But ultimately, Skerritt’s involvement is simply seen by many as a sign that Destiny 2 has something big planned for the future – likely already in the autumn. Could we possibly also see elements of Destiny 3? In autumn, there could still be something about Destiny 3 – but different than expected
