Bungie has now revealed the first official information about Season 5 – the Season of the Forge – and the next DLC, Black Armory. We show you what players can expect in the near future around Destiny 2.
The Season of the Lawless, that is Season 4, will end on November 27, 2018. But what comes next for Destiny 2? When does the new Season 5 start? And when will there finally be more information about the first upcoming Annual Pass DLC Black Armory?
Bungie has now revealed this in their current “This Week at Bungie” blog.
Season 5 in Destiny 2 – What is known
When does Season 5 start? As the studio announced, the Season of the Forge will directly follow the end of Season 4. The new season starts on November 27, 2018, and will be ushered in with Update 2.1.0. Some fans speculated that Season 5 could start on December 4, but that is apparently not the case.
When will Black Armory come out? The leak by AntumTheNine has once again proven to be true. Although Bungie did not elaborate on the first premium DLC for Annual Pass owners, an update from the official US Blizzard shop has confirmed that Black Armory will be released on December 4, 2018.
Since Season 5 starts a week earlier, there will be exactly like with the launch of Forsaken a transition period of one week, during which Destiny 2 will be in a transition phase.
The content of Black Armory is supposed to be delivered throughout Season 5 until March 4, 2019. According to the official store description, it includes:
- Access to Black Armory
- New activity “Lost Forges”
- New raid
- Exotic weapons
- Quests
- Triumphs and collections
When will more information about the new Season of the Forge come out? On November 27, at the start of Season 5, Bungie plans to release a ViDoc as well as a complete gameplay calendar that will illustrate how year 2 will continue for you.
They will address all three upcoming seasons that will take place in the second year of Destiny 2. What will each season offer the players? What content does the Annual Pass contribute? These are only some of the questions Bungie aims to answer.
What exactly will be reset with the start of Season 5? Guardians who want to complete seasonal triumphs from Season 4 have until November 27 to do so. With the weekly reset, the Season of the Forge begins on that day. Then ranks will be reset and unfinished triumphs from the Season of the Lawless will expire.
The following will be reset:
- Nightfall rank
- Valor rank
- Glory rank
- Infamy rank
- All unfinished triumphs or quest steps that require completing specific goals in a season
- All unfinished triumphs titled with Season 4 will expire. These will be completely removed at the beginning of Season 5
The following will not expire:
- Quests for the pinnacle Crucible weapons from Season 4 – that is Redrix’s Claymore, Lunas Howl, and Not Forgotten. If you have the quest in your inventory, it will not be removed
- If you are on a step that requires a certain rank or number of rank resets within a season at the time of the reset, that progress will be lost! However, the quest will remain at that step and can be continued and completed in Season 5
- All triumph or quest steps that require goals to be met during any season will remain intact
By the way: You still have until November 27 to relatively easily secure the first heavy machine gun in Destiny 2 – the Thunderlord.

After that, the exotic quest will no longer be available, and the Thunderlord will only be obtainable randomly from exotic engrams.
