Hearthstone is a free online strategy card game where you do not control your own characters across a vast game world, but rather engage in fast-paced card battles on the battlefield. Hearthstone takes place in the world of the Warcraft series, which is why you will find characters and monsters around every corner that you might already know from Warcraft 3 or World of Warcraft.

At the beginning, you choose a starting deck in the form of character classes. Although each class can use any game card, the classes have different special abilities. While the Paladin can summon holy companions, the Mage hurls fireballs. The Druid, on the other hand, transforms into an animal and strikes its enemies with heavy blows.

There are a total of nine different classes, each allowing you different tactics. But that’s not all – the developers regularly implement new cards in updates. On one hand, there are cards for specific classes, but there are also game cards that are intended for all characters. The card decks usually focus on specific themes. For example, you can earn game cards from Naxxramas, which should already be known from World of Warcraft. Here, Naxxramas was a large raid dungeon that could only be completed with multiple players.

Engage in fast-paced battles on the battlefield

The battles of Hearthstone are turn-based. However, the rounds do not progress slowly – rather, one action is performed after another, creating a feeling of real-time. For each action, you need mana points, which increase by one point with each successive round. This way, with each additional round, ever stronger cards become available that make the game even more exciting. Initially, only simple soldiers or orcs can be played with one mana point, but later you unleash massive hellbeasts or warlords.

Once the cards are on the table, a true fireworks of effects begins. In Hearthstone, all cards have their own sound effects and usually also special animations, making the action feel even more dynamic. It can quickly happen that an explosion is unleashed and sets the entire table on fire.

To communicate with your opponent during a match, the game uses simple and pre-made phrases – “Well done!”. This way, players can focus on the actual game instead of conversing with other people.
