The TV series Defiance has been canceled. The MMO shooter is supposed to continue on its own.
In 2013, the TV series Defiance premiered in the USA on the Syfy channel. At the same time, Trion Worlds released the MMO shooter Defiance as a “tie-in” game, which was launched for PC, Xbox 360, and Playstation 3 and is now free to play on all three platforms.
After 3 seasons, that’s it for the TV series. It is being canceled. However, the MMO is set to continue. According to Trion Worlds CEO Scott Hartsman, they will “continue just as before,” and that the TV show and MMO were designed from the start to function without each other. The TV series mainly took place in St. Louis, while the game focused on the Bay Area of San Francisco.
