In Call of Duty: Warzone 2, players can still cause trouble even from beyond the grave. A clip on Reddit sparked corresponding reactions, and it is unclear if that is intended.
Call of Duty: Warzone has always been a battle royale where you can relatively easily return to the game after dying. A win in the Gulag and you’re back in. With a little cash from your teammates, you can also come back.
If your whole team is out, you enter the so-called “Spectator Mode.” You now have the view of the player who eliminated you or the last teammate. In the upper right corner of the screen, the player can even see how many people are watching him.
Actually, those are supposed to be silent spectators, without any further access to the match’s progress. It turns out that these spectators can still cause trouble. They still have access to the global text chat, and toxic players are discovering this for themselves.
CoD Warzone 2: Text chat can give you away
What’s going on? Currently, a clip is popular in the Warzone subreddit, where the problem is very well illustrated.
An opponent, whom the player “Silver-Anybody5086” has already eliminated, reports in the text chat and wants to help other players nearby eliminate his own killer:
The clip shows the fight of Silver-Anybody5086 as he eliminates the last opponents and claims victory.
Repeatedly, messages from a “Jamal” pop up. With brief hints, this player wants to help others around to finish off Silver-Anybody5086. Without success.
What do players say about this? Many commenting users hope that this issue receives attention and that there will be changes in the future. In the subreddit, it is the biggest topic of the past week and has garnered over 3,900 upvotes with more than 370 comments.
For example, “rusticlizard” writes: “That’s so broken. Hopefully, this gets voted up so that the developers can somehow fix it.”
Most other comments congratulate Silver-Anybody5086 on his victory, despite the nasty traitor in the chat, or remark on what they think of Jamal and his behavior.
Some realize that they would probably never see this chat. They have completely disabled the global text chat – for many players, nothing good often comes out of it anyway.
Warzone 2 has not found peace since its release. New problems keep arising, PCs crash, or players discover inconsistencies in the balance.
For example, there is a perk that effectively provides constant drones: Perk in CoD Warzone 2 is way too strong, provides constant drones – “Feels like cheating?”
The developers are working on one fix after another, but the atmosphere is tense. There may be a little relaxation with the mid-season update – the new content cycle starts on December 14.
