The next killer from Dead by Daylight has a teaser. It will likely be a woman and you wouldn’t want to encounter her in the woods at night…
The release of the last killer from Dead by Daylight was just a few weeks ago and the next one is on the horizon. An initial teaser has the community speculating about what the developers have come up with this time. The speculations point to a Wendigo.
What does the video show? In the rather short clip, a forest in darkness can be seen. Accompanying this is the soft, almost animalistically frantic grunting of a woman who seems to be approaching the center of the image. A loud scream echoes before a pale hand reaches into the frame and apparently slashes the viewer as blood flows:
There’s also the comment: “Our past can sometimes be a burden that drives us to the most dangerous places in search of answers and hope…”
This is what the community speculates: The community’s speculations heavily lean towards a Wendigo, as known from many myths and legends. In more modern times, this creature notably appeared in the PS4 game Until Dawn.
What is a Wendigo? Classically, a Wendigo is a spirit or demon that lives in the forests, possessing people and resembling a zombie in appearance. Black, decaying skin, a lipless mouth, and the hands end in long claws. This at least fits well with what was seen in the trailer.
Additionally, a Wendigo drives its victims to cannibalism or feeds on the flesh of the dead. This somewhat resembles the Witch already present in the game but has a different spin.
Some speculations, however, point to the Witch from Left4Dead. Here, however, some note that the characteristic crying that usually announces a Witch is missing.
At least there is great joy that the next killer will likely again be a woman – the last female killer was the Plague and her release was already over 18 months ago.
However, it is still unclear whether the upcoming chapter is an “original” chapter of Dead by Daylight or a licensed killer from an already known franchise, so we will probably have to wait a few days for an answer.
