Microsoft has announced that DayZ will be available as Game Preview for Xbox One starting August 29. A PS4 version of DayZ is also in the works and will be released at a later date. Here is what we know about the release of DayZ on Xbox One.
DayZ will be available on Xbox One as Game Preview. This is a program similar to Early Access, allowing Xbox players to purchase and test digital titles that are still in development.
Xbox One Version in Game Preview
The Microsoft Store explicitly states that DayZ is a game still in development. Existing features may change before the final release.
However, these details are already promised:
- Online multiplayer with up to 60 players
- Online co-op
- 4K Ultra HD Xbox One X Enhanced
Release and Download of DayZ
The Game Preview of DayZ will be available for Xbox One starting August 29. The price is not yet known. Bohemia Interactive has recently sent Closed Preview keys to 5,000 players. Until the release of the Game Preview, access to the game will only be possible through one of these keys.
How to download DayZ: The product page for the game is currently not accessible directly on the console. However, interested players can already find information about DayZ on the official Microsoft Store.
Once DayZ has been released, the survival game can be downloaded either through the store’s website to your home console or via the appropriate store tab on your Xbox One itself.
However, please note that an active Xbox Live Gold subscription is required to play DayZ.
What is DayZ?
DayZ started as a modification of the game ArmA 2: Combined Operations, before becoming a standalone game in 2013. The goal of the game is to survive for as long as possible in an open world populated by zombies.
Players start with very little equipment and supplies on an unknown beach and must venture inland to find weapons, armor, and medical supplies. However, the threat in DayZ comes not only from zombies, but also from other human players who can become a threat.
Players can choose whether to cooperate with others or to ambush them and steal their supplies. Thus, you must weigh how much you want to trust your fellow players.
