The NPCs of Elden Ring are often mysterious and hide their faces. The well-known data miner Zullie the Witch has now shown a total of 36 characters, including otherwise hidden faces, in a video.
On your journey through the Lands Between, you can meet dozens of NPCs in Elden Ring. Some have useful advice for you, while others say nothing at all or even mock you.
However, many of them hide their faces behind masks and helmets. For example, the scoundrel Varré, whom you meet right after the tutorial, makes fun of you the first time you encounter him.

Every NPC has its own face, but many do not want to show it
When looking at the various NPCs, there are even some lore details. Varré has a three-finger tattoo on his forehead, which can also be found on other NPCs that attack you as intruders during the course of the game.
He also gives you items needed for PvP. The symbol is likely to establish a link between the Three Fingers and the rogue tarnished who hunt others.
Zullie the Witch not only managed to reveal their faces. He also presents the settings in the character editor. So, if you want to recreate an NPC, this video is also the perfect template for that.

Also Fia, an NPC from the hub of Elden Ring, shows her face, for example. When you talk to her in the game, she offers to hug you. What might seem like a nice gesture, turns out to be a debuff. There is also an important side story in the game behind her.
However, some other characters do not have data that can be accessed as the data miner has done. He could not find faces for characters like Melina, Ranni, or Renalla.

What is special about it? The videos show: Almost every NPC has its own face. This is remarkable in that many of them do not show their faces in the game at all. Nevertheless, the developer FromSoftware has made the effort to give their faces a unique character.

Players praise the attention to detail of Elden Ring in NPCs
The commentators under the video are indeed impressed by the effort that FromSoftware has put into the NPCs. They also find that the hidden faces fit very well with the stories of the characters.

Some have also stumbled upon characters they didn’t know through the video. Elden Ring is quite mysterious in its story and side quests, and if you are not careful, you can miss something quickly.
A change to the map in the latest update 1.03 makes it much easier to keep an eye on NPCs you’ve met before and thus not “lose” the quest, which can certainly happen.
