What does Patch 1.01.00 bring for Crimson Desert? The update on March 29, 2026, has the following highlights:
- Five new summonable and permanent boss and legendary mounts have been added, which NPCs in towns no longer fear. You can now ride them through populated areas without worry. The added mounts are:
- Legendary Animals: Polar Bear, Silver Tooth, White Stag
- Boss Animals: Stonebreaker Wild Boar, Ice Spike Mountain Goat
- Travel times for fast travel and respawn after death have been significantly reduced, accompanied by further performance improvements.
- Movement on foot, horseback, and in the air is smoother; flying now consumes less stamina and allows item usage.
- New comfort features make crafting easier with an instant craft button and inventory management through quick transfers to storage.
- Crimes like theft or vandalism now only reduce your reputation if you are observed by an NPC.
You can find the full patch notes here on page 2.
Note that the patch is not yet live on all platforms. On Steam the developers write:
For Xbox, the Epic Games Store, and the Mac App Store, Patch 1.01.00 will be released at a later date. We will inform you again about this announcement as soon as the patch has been fully rolled out. Please keep an eye on future announcements.
Finally cool permanent mounts
What was the problem with the mounts? Until now, the mounts in Crimson Desert were different from what players hoped for: Bears, wolves, and the like were not a real alternative to horses, as they could only be temporarily tamed and quickly broke free from submission.
Also, the dragon, which was the only animal that could be properly tamed, had a cooldown of about an hour, severely limiting its use in a single-player game. Many fans felt cheated because when the original announcement of 30 different mounts was made, they assumed they would be able to use all of them permanently instead of having to ride a shabby horse forever.
With the new patch, the developers are now responding to players’ wishes, making it worthwhile to tame legendary mounts that are not horses. In the future, additional suitable mounts may join.
Whether Pearl Abyss will also make changes to the beloved dragons in the future remains to be seen. Until then, you will need to invest many hours and expect a cooldown if you want to use the dragon as a mount.
